To get that credit, did you have to agree to any contract? I assume you were not under contract when you called, correct?

I was comparing Uverse and Dish for a few days now, since they are indeed coming to my neighborhood and was wondering if I could reduce my bill a little bit. Then I started reading this topic and got motivated enough to call them.

If you got $10 off for 12 months then you got no better deal than anybody else that calls in asking for that promotion, with commitment of course. I think these credits they are giving away is part of the reason why they are jacking the prices up. They had to figure a way to make up for constant credits they have to give some customers now to stay with them. They figure if they have to give such credits then the customers need to pay regular price compared to other providers for the same number of televisions.
Thanks but that is where i got the 4.03 increase from. I will do it again, maybe I'm putting something in wrong but i did do it a couple of times cause i thought it was of=dd compared to the posts about the topic. Will try again and see if I can figure out my error!

I went to my account at dish network to see if anything had changed. Just so I could get a breakdown of all the prices, I added in DHPP but canceled before confirming. The next page gives you your new and old prices before you confirm. I had a new line item , "0 of 6 receiver credit, -$5".

Since I used the calculator before my post I thought well maybe I should try again. Of course I came up with the exact same result. I went back to the first post of the thread. There is a chart of additional receiver fees at the end of the first post. Based on that chart pre Feb 1 I was being charged $10.00 a month for the 322 however since I had it plugged into the phone the reality is I was only charged $5.00. Post Feb 1 the charge for a 322 is $14.00 but if you had your box plugged in prior to Feb 1 you get $5.00 off thus the charge is $9.00. Which is an increase of $4.00. the $0.03 increase is from the rounding off of the dvr fee and DHPP fees to an even $6.00 a piece.
As I said before I have priced cable and the other sat service and to have an equivalent set up would cost more so I'm sticking with what I have. It is just irksum that I just fixed the fact that I was being over charged by about $12.00 a month for several months until I found out (from this forum) that the platinum HD service had been discontiuned as a seperate service and rolled into the GoldHD package. There should be something illegal about that but I expect the loophole is that I was still receiving the service I was being charged for even though new customers or customers that upgraded didn't pay as much! Anyway My wife and I have been having serious conversations around putting up an antenna and doing away with pay TV all together to save money. The antenna is about $90. I expect I can get away with a complete install, we have three hd tvs and one analog so I might need a signal booster in the system somewhere, for around $250. The installation would be payed for after three months and then I could put the cash in the bank....thats a little over $1200.00 a year. I'm just not sure how I will feel about not being able to watch the Red Sox, except when they play a nationally televised game....

I think you are seeing a temporary mix of old and new pricing (as they are rolling out the changes). Your leased rec'r fee is going up to $10 and the TurboHD Bronze package is adding locals and going to $34.99. So in the end you'll get locals as well as a $2.04/month price increase. Paying for locals isn't such a bad deal because while DISH's local are a bit softer, they are also MPEG4 so it way less space on the hardrive -- and you'll get guide data for both OTA and Sat locals.

I usually do not pay much attention to these increases. I have two receivers 722 and 622 and a Gold 250 package with HD Platinum.

What's this Receiver Credit for $5.00? Every time I plug in what system I have the new billing gives me a Receiver Credit for $5.00. I know we're to only use it as a estimate but I can't figure out what it is? I thought Scott said it won't matter if you have a phone line/internet connection anymore you wouldn't save the $5.00.
I never bothered with OTA since I still have cable. However, it would be nice to be able to record locals on my DVR. Unfortunately, PBS is not in HD on dish, so none of those fantastic documentaries will be in high def. :rant:
How will I know if I have locals on Dish and how do I access them on my receiver?
What good does Dish Network think they are going to do by giving customers temporary credits on their bills? It is delaying the inevitable price increase and churn that it will result in later this year. It will be the same situation then as it would have been now. Perhaps they want to see what new customers think of this first.
If this is correct, it would appear that the 922 will have a $4 surcharge.
For the first 922 it has been reported that the (whole house) DVR fee will be $10, which is $4 over the normal $6 fee.
Additional 722 recievers are $17, so if a 922 is $21, it would be a $4 surcharge.
