I have found 125 bot cannot receive PBS Montana is it really there ? Or am I too far south ? Is it encrypted ? Can I find PBS on Ku in the clear ?

Thanks
Tony

PBS is on 125 west.
It may be a little weak in your area, if the Lyngsat Maps are to be believed.
If you are not getting the PBS TPs, how are you sure you are on 125 west?

Montana PBS can be hard to lock for some receivers because of the low SR. PBS national has several sd channels on 125. Just check The List.

tonydix the Ku beam from that sat is non-existent for me here in central Mexico, if I don't get anything odds are you wont get anything either

edit:

well, looking at the lyngsat satbeam map, Panama does seem to get some beam from that sat so who knows?

If you have a C band dish, you can get PBS (SD and HD) on AMC1 103 W, 4090 V 14035 3/4.

We ar getting a PBS Test card,Create, V me, and a PBS feed of Inside Washington so we must be on 125 but no PBS Montanna.
Thanks
Tony

I was blind scanning. Does it help to enter tp data manually ?
Tony

Usually helps me especially on the lower symbol rates when aiming/peaking.

Tony,

I agree with entering this TP manually also. Do your other TPs on this sat seem a little weak? If they do, then definitely. With a lower SR and a weaker signal from any sat (overall), using a manual entry might capture it better than blind scanning.

Blind scanning is not a perfect method. Things can be missed with even a very good receiver. The signal may indeed be there, but borderline enough that the receiver's blind scan might pass it by.

If you can "force" the receiver to look at it, then maybe you can catch a sufficient glimpse of the signal to be able to tweak the dish and / or the LNBF to raise the signal up to a more acceptable level. Or even possibly, make minor adjustments to the TP frequency and / or the SR so that the receiver's tuner likes it better. I have done this on occasion with signals that wanted to play hard to get and had some success.
