Is anyone able to receive the OETA channels on 125W? Lyngsat has them as 12112/V/8703 DVB-S2-8PSK. I'm able to get the east/west HD channels with about 40% Q on my AzBox as well as Montana PBS but am unable to lock the OETA mux.

I can lock it on the Sathawk but VERY LOW quality.....like 20
not enough to keep it stable

I think I need a big dish aimed at 125W (like a 4 footer) :)

I'm getting them at 99Q on my CS8000 and 1M dish. 99Q on CS8000 doesn't mean much , except it's a strong signal. Probably you have a slight dish misalignment. Try tuning the mux with the CS8000, it's much easier than the screwy signal meter on the AZbox. I'm amazed at how much better my 1M dish is , compared with my 90cm dish . All the diff in the world when trying to haul in these 8psk tp's .
:)

and from your loc I'm closer (Minnesota) than you.
Right now I cant lock it but we have a helluva snow storm right now

I'm getting it on AZBox without any problem on 1 m dish, but dish needs quite precision tuning for DVB-S2

We normally have strong winds here, but had snow/rain/ice again for most of today and strong north winds now, so OETA's uplink may be affected too.

Needs to warm up so I can finally move my Dishes to their new home this weekend. 18 degrees and 20mph winds is not my idea of optimal installation conditions.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I think the signal is just too weak up here for me to get it on anything less then a 1m. Messing around with the LPB transponder hasn't yielded any results, so I guess I'm hooped for the S2 stuff.

I get OETA about 20% of the time with a 1 meter dish here on the east coast, I was actually able to record Dr Who on Saturday night, right now its a no show (snowing again)
LPB comes in about 40% of the time although I rarely get both at the same time.
Looks like I need at least a 4ft dish I'm just not sure my motor could handle it.

OETA is very marginal for me, about 50/50. Right now, it's not locking. Yesterday it was locking OK. On the other hand, I get LPT S2 locked with good signal about 95% of the time, and haven't noticed the nightime outages that others have seen in the past. Also get a good lock on the 12120 data channel, which is S2. So that OETA is definately the transponder I have the most problems with, with my 3' Primestar. I really get the impression that the footprints of the AMC-21 transponders are rather variable for different parts of the country.

I'm getting it here in Halifax with a 71Q on the same 1M dish as you on my Azbox, at 5:30, with light snow.

Nice clear morning today and both LPB and OETA are coming in well
LPB S40/Q97
OETA S55/Q35

Signal and Quality readings vary wildly between different equipment, Q20 is my threshold, signal strength on OETA can stay the same and some days the Q is 0 and other days like today its 30+.
I'm not sure what the Q threshold is for the Azbox but it looks like I have some tweaking to do I definitely can't get it in light snow or cloud.
Thanks again cracklincrotch your information is particularly valuable since were using the same dish and are only a few miles apart

boy these S2 channels are like night and day signal quality

right now on the sathawk
LPB....56
OETA...37

last night OETA was stable even at a bouncing 20 quality :eek:

Thanks, that's interesting looks like I have some tweaking to do in the spring, right now I need snow shoes to get to the dish.

Up until my last tweak I couldn't even get a sniff of ANY S2 signal on that dish. Dunno what the heck I did different this time. Started right from scratch the same as usual. Well, I don't use USALS anymore. That is different. Only using diseqc 1.2 and peaked each position by hand with my Birdog and Azbox. But even before doing each one individually I knew I hit things better this time than I ever had before. Seems like a fluke to me. :)

Yesterday morning I checked, and LPB was booming in, but I couldn't get a hint of a lock on OETA. About 2 hours later, OETA was a bit stronger than LPB, nice solid signal. Right now both are stong.
I alway forget to look at the weather at the uplink sites when evaluating these things. Next time OETA goes out, hopefully we can look at the weather down there.

They both always seem to have a fairly good signal here. At least I never
have trouble locking them and have a stable video.

right now:

LPB= 59Q
OETA=60Q

I noticed last night if I bumped the dish a little west OETA BOOMED and LPB was gone
If I bump it back east LPB and OETA are both very stable but LPB is much higher
