It's at least five times harder than going SD in your RV. I only use my setup for tailgating and my TV is only a 32" Vizio flat panel, but while I grant you there is a difference, it's simply not worth the extra issues in my case. I see you have just the one post here. I suggest you use the search function and view the dozens of posts on this subject as well. If you will be stationary for a period of time (like going south for the winter and staying in one place) then it may be worth it but if you're on the move my suggestion is stick with SD.
Do you have a compass/ You need to point your dish in the general direction of the satellites first. I setup my system at home myself, took a little time, but its not hard to do if you're patient. Type in your zip code on setup screen, and point dish in general direction listed on TV screen, according to compass. then set angle and tilt according to numbers on screen. Hopefully there are not any trees in that direction, or you will get either weak or no signal. Hook up cable from dish to meter, meter to receiver, and slowly adjust, one at a time all three of the angles setup earlier, peaking each one. Be sure to thoroughly read the directions that came with your meter as well...

If you can set up a Slimline, it shouldn't be any different than any other time.
Do as jjnemoiii said and practice at home first.
Only difference I would do is set the TILT and Elevation before scanning the skis east and west.
This should get you in the ball park, then use the compass to go from there.
Excellent question as the OP hasn't mentioned .... if he doesn't have a HD capable set up, he'll be trying forever.
