Does anyone know what happens to Capacitors when a STB unit is turned on and off in a short time, I suspect that is what caused two of my pansats 9200 from going dead.

Did you ever make any modifications to the two 9200 units such as adding any cooling fans and/or the heat sink reseating mods? If you haven't then HEAT may have been the cause of failure, especially if they were ever in an enclosed cabinet like a entertainment center. Have you inspected the power supplies for any visible signs of buldging tops on the caps or blown fuses?
