ok heres the deal.......i just bought a AU9s dish and a 4x4 multiswitch. I can get signal on the 101 satellite but i get NOTHING on the HD side. My neighbor just got hd at his place and i set my dish up right in front of his underneath it and i get little to no signal for my dish......the spot is very tight that you have to aim through there are trees on the left and right. I guess what im asking is does anyone have any tips, gadgets or anything that i can use to get this thing to work?

Also if anyone is in the starkville, MS area or knows anyone here that could help that would be huge as well.

Are you using that 4x4 switch when trying to set it up ?

Remove it, it's the wrong switch, IF you need a Multi Switch, you'll need a WB68 or larger depending on how many recvrs your setting up.
 
If you only need up to 4 tuners, you don't need another multiswitch.
If you do have more than 4, you'll need the WB68 or equivalent multiswitch.
Why use a 4x4 switch? It only has 4 outputs. Typically, that switch was used to combine two dishes, one for 101 and another for 119.

Yes this is a followup. I get signal fine on my 3 recievers but I can't get any HD signal at all I followed the setup instructions and I have the correct tilt, azimuth and elivation and I get 101 pretty much 90+ on all transponders but I get ZILCH on any other satellite. The guy that set up my neighbors dish said that if I was off 5 degrees then I would miss it but I've done all I know how to do.
 
Have you removed the 4x4 switch from the setup?
You can't get HD through that 4x4 switch.
Connect the receiver directly to two of the outputs from your dish.
Once you get the other sats, connect the WB68 and you're all set.

BTW, what models do you have?

He never mentioned what HD Recvr's he had, he'll need his BBC's before he'll get HD as well.
 
I have an h20 reciever. I have another switch that someone left here that is a 2x4 so I hav that plugged into my dish and down into my HD reciever. I get good signal at 101 at 99c I get all 0s

so anyway what all do I need to get then cuz I just spent like 130 on all this I thought I had the right switch. Also what's this ccb stuff?
 
Ok update. I switched the switches and now I have a select few HD channels prolly 1/3 of em
 
If you don't have the BBCs, you will not get many of the HD channels. Call Directv and they will send you a pair for free. 2x4 and 4x4 multiswitches will not work for any HD.
 
Ok so question 1 which switch will work does anyone have a link I need a switch that will work for an lnb with 4 lines. Question 2 what is a BBC?

Researched the BBC and ordered one.....they said it would be here in 4-6 weeks WOW.

This is like the switch that i have hooked up to the thing now that is letting some channels through.

Wait. So by getting a BBC that will take my transponder strength from 0?
 
About those trees...........?

Yes as others have mentioned the B Band Converter..(BBC) allows your receiver to "see" the HD signal from the 99 & 103 sats.

But tell more about those trees.

yeah thats what im worried about.......im getting signal on the 99s and 103ca but nothing else.....could the multiswitch be doing this? i have a guy right behind me that has his dish setup and i have mine setup in the same way.... would the multiswitch take the signal away from some transponders and not others?

ok the trees.

the only way i can set this dish up is through a clearing inbetween two trees one on the right of the dish and one to the left......the guy said that one of the satellites is right off the tip of one of the trees. but i am getting signal where i am on the 99 and 103 just not on both bands i guess i get ok signal on 99s and great signal on 103 whatever the not ca is

another question.....since i have a 4 line satellite can i just bypass the multiswitch and plug 3 of the 4 wires directly into the lines that run to my receivers and leave the 4th wire unconnected?

Yes.

Also, when looking at the sat's, the signal comes in much higher than you might think. That may help in the choice of where the dish is.
The signal comes in higher and bounces off the reflector into the LNB.

Wrong multiswitch. You need a Zinwell WB68 for HD.
