OFFICIAL DISH / FOX ORDEAL DISCUSSION THREAD

So much for the notion that their ad revenue is down and the increase in carriage fees is to make up for the decline. (assuming the article is correct of course)
A previous article by them was totally wrong. They claimed that Sons of Anarchy only drew 500k households when it was actually in the millions. Many times articles on this site are often way off base. I would take what they say with a grain of salt

Agreed on this they are a bunch of lying scum bags. May they rot for these lies.
Because a website that is wrong more often in their predictions or sources than it is correct says so, therefor you assume they are lying as well?

BTW, I am on Dish's side of this issue as I do not want to see rates rise.

I am in a market where Dish doesn't directly offer any network affiliates in its packages of channels. Instead I have to pay on an ala carte basis for any network affiliates that I want. It will be interesting to see if All American Direct (or what ever they are calling themselves now) can continue to sell Fox to Dish subscribers after Nov 1..

I pay about $3.50 a month for each network affiliate I want in HD. If Fox/All American/Dish black out the channel I have recourse as I will quickly stop paying for Fox.

Currently most if not all the Fox channels in my sports package are off air as they are for everyone else.

They were running ads to swap so fast i really get suspicious of that sort of thing

Charlie better get off of his ass though

IIRC, a few years back, one or more locals were pulled for a very long time, months, from up in the Washington/Oregon area.

Fine. Today, I climbed up and down my 50' tower and used a pipe wrench to turn my antennae to optimize my OTA FOX reception. My arms are on fire!! I assume the deadline is November 1 as the scare-tactic commercials suggest. So, if this is not resolved by then, I'll be modifying my DVR settings.

I'd love to have a 50 tower! $$$
My local fox is safe, furtunately, because fox is one of the channels that I can't get OTA.

I just looked at my receipt for the install that was done August 14, 1997 (13 years ago!!): The tower buried in concrete deep enough such that no guy wires were needed, a DISH Network "Dual System" (the nomenclature used on the receipt---I believe it was just a DISH 500 119/110), Big Channel Master UHF/VHF antenna, single-channel antenna for channel 7, amp, and installation all came to a grand total of $1160.60. The DISH Network stuff was $299 (not leased). So, I figure that's a pretty good price seeing how the tower and antenna have held up nicely despite my 280 lb ass climbing up and down it.

If I had a 50ft tower I could pull in stations from Erie, PA :)
I'm only on about a 15ft mast right now (from the ground) and my OTA comes from 37 to 42 miles away without trouble. If I'd get up off my lazy ass I could put a rotor on it, spin it around, and pick up hockey night Canada out of Toronto. I get it off the back side of the antenna now, but not real strong. I believe it's about 60 miles but mostly over water.

50 foot tower ...... yeah...... my wife would go for that :)

I don't need no stinkin' CSR...

Just gave myself a $20 a month discount by moving from 250 to 200 and canceling HD Platinum. I didn't want to play CS roulette and waste my time wrangling a deal for the channels that are in dispute but are still being charged for. Might go back when/if the Disney and Fox situation is settled but then again, might decide to give myself a $53.00/month discount by canceling Dish altogether and go OTA.

One way to put an end to the greed being exhibited on both sides of the dispute.

I agree! I decided to not put up a fight, whine, complain or resort to other childish behaviors. This whole problem caused me and the wife to re-examine our viewing habits. As it turned out, I was able to save nearly 50 dollars in monthly charges. We looked at the programming charts, and comparing what the next package was giving us vs how much it cost made the decision easy to drop from 250 to 120. Also axed platinum, and Cinemax that was left over from the penny deal when we subbed. At the moment I am happy with what I am getting, vs what I am paying and that my friends has not happened in a long time!
