2010-11 MLB Hot Stove

The Red Sox got better with the addition of Crawford. The Phillies got better by adding Lee. The Yanks are left "hoping" they get better production out of their players than last year. I doubt they'll go into the regular season without making a move. What do they have to offer KC for Zach Grienke?

Exactly!

Perhaps Jesus will be used as trade bait for Grienke? Hmmmmm.

Looks like the Yankees are running low on desirable minor league prospects, with only one ranked in the top 100.

From ScoutingBook.com:
Our 14 Top Yankees Prospects for 2010
Current Overall SB ranking for 2010 shown in parentheses.

1. Jesus Montero
C, NYY (#2 overall)

The Yankees are committed to Jorge Posada for another couple of years, but after that they're hoping that a fast-growing rookie can take over their young pitching staff... assuming he doesn't outgrow the position...

3. Andrew Brackman RHP, NYY (#141 overall)

4. Ivan Nova RHP, NYY (#168 overall)

5. Slade Heathcott OF, NYY (#171 overall)

Greinke has dealt with depression and social anxiety disorder in the past. He even missed most of the 2006 season dealing with these issues. He’s also not big on the media and reportedly did not even want to hold a press conference after he won a Cy Young award last season.

Those issues will almost undoubtedly come to a head under the magnifying glass that is New York. When a trade is hypothetically completed there will be a press conference with more reporters than he’s ever seen in Kansas City.

Rumors: Yankees Still Wary of Greinke | Bronx Baseball Daily

Obviously, being a Red Sox fan I'm thrilled that Lee isn't bringing his talents to the Bronx. BUT the combination of the money he left on the table AND having a chance to wear the most famous uniform in sports is rather perplexing!

LOL don't even admit that you said two different things...

Sandra

I admitted it on the fact that they were based on my opinion. I said it...but you are doing your usual hair-splitting spin job to avoid the fact that your are bent out of shape because it's a fact that the Yanks have done about nothing to really improve your team other teams have completely left the Yanks in the dust so far.

But...please...don't hurt yourself...

Why? The Yankees are not the only soda in the refrigerator.... It's nice to see the someone ELSE has out Yanked the Yankees for a change. ;)

Because some times, it's just not about the money....

I agree, but when you combine said money with the aura and tradition of putting on the pinstripes, well I just thought that magnet would be too strong!

Out here in the blogosphere, there have been many comparisons made of Lee's decision to the LeBron free-agency situation of just a few months ago.

Does he stay where he is for very good money and be the primary star on a good team, does he go to New York and the big stage for very good money, or does he go to an unexpected team surrounded by an excellent supporting cast??

Sounds to me the only thing missing is the ESPN 'Decision"....

Hey cosmo, did you hear? This is the first time this has EVER happened!

LOL apparently this comes from some imagined knowledge base because I never said anything remotely resembling this. All I said was it's a little premature to make breathless comments like there is NO WAY the Yankees even win one playoff series next year.

But you already knew that...;)

Then you combine...IF you are the highest paid player on the Yankees, then the team fails to win a championship....though you had a great year and did everything you could OTHER than sell peanuts or have an ERA under 4....and get blamed for not doing enough....I can see why you would not want to go there.
