Welcome Pack

Thanks for the help. I was offered it but declined it. I instead took the "just locals."
I wonder if you can change your mind? When I got the Welcome Pak it was something like $5 more than locals because there was a $5 or $6 charge for not having a basic package and the Welcome qualified as that package.

Hi, just to let everyone know, the Welcome Pack has been reinstated by Dish Network for $14.99 a month including locals. It is NOT a qualifying package, so cannot be added to an account that is currently under a commitment. It will include: 107,Comedy Central; 110, Food Network; 112, Home & Garden Television; 120, History; 127, Oxygen; 128, WE: Women's Entertainment; 130, AMC; 134, ShopNBC; 137, QVC; 139, TBS; 161,MTV2; 166, CMT; 175, Boomerang; 179, The HUB; 183, Learning Channel; 185, Hallmark; 203, Bloomberg; 209, MSNBC; 214, The Weather Channel; 222, HSN; & 230, ICTV. We have not updated our website yet so it is not available on-line right now.

Used to have Cnn in that pack and it totaled 20. Looks like only 17 real channels in that pack now ,not counting shopping channels.

I presume it still includes no HD except for HD locals?

Also, it is not a qualifying package for those with commitments, but is it still a package that qualifies for the free lease of your primary (in my case, only) receiver? Or has that changed?

Still, it gives me a little pause before cancelling as planned, as it does include the 2 channels I watch the most, Comedy Central and Food.

Dish should continue this package to compete against Cable. Cable (in select cities, area) offer a $30 package that include the higher cable channels like CNN, ESPN and the other popular station. 20 cable channels.

Yes, the HD channels in this would be locals only and there will be no primary receiver fees with this package. I hope it helps!!

This is a win win for both Dish and those customers who's income varies during the year. If you have a seasonal or a part time job you may be able to afford a higher package at certain times of the year, so that gives dish more income from them. If a seasonal or part time worker has the security to switch back to the welcome pack rather than canceling and go to a local cable Co. that doesn't require a contract, such as Cox , Dish will make more money during the year and everybody's happy. It will also have the benefit of a few less threads about leaving Dish,at least for those of us not under contract.

Just curious, are you allowed to get a premium movie package like HBO with the Welcome Pack? I mean if I wanted to could I get HBO + the Welcome Pack?

My sister tried to get the Welcome Pack last year but was told it wasn't available. So when I told her tonight that it was back, she was ecstatic! How soon can she call and request the Welcome Pack?
