a screen that says what is going on and background music. In this case probably "HD affiliate channels through Sobongo are no longer available" or something of the nature

If you tune to say one of the RSN alt channles in the off time (when there is no game on there) and you see a dish logo and music. thats a slate
 
May also be a clue in the next uplink report if 110 transponder 17 shows any new activity.

You might not see any activity on the report since they will reroute the video at the uplink to the slate generator which does not require any changes in the channel/transponder tables. Much like a PPV movie is swapped between channels without an uplink report.
 
1:50AM 1/19 mine are still on.

In a related note, Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead.
 
I wonder if there is a pattern to the shutdown. I still have the East Coast and West Coast feeds.

For instance, could the people shut down so far have been individual channel subscribers?
 
Shutting them down probably just requires them pressing enter or a mouse click. They would probably all go to a slate instantely.
