How long does it take for your locals to change to coincide with your "new address?"

Couple hours?

I have rebooted and I only "moved" 100 miles...which is well within the spotbeam needed. Still no change.

When changing locals it takes usually takes a phone call and a red button reboot.
Unfortunately sometimes it takes a couple tries.

If your locals are not changing then there is no need to do anything but yes, 100 miles can be enough to get out of the spot beams. However, I have seen people partially pick up locals from a few hundred miles away. Go figure.
I am 80 miles from Charlotte and have done movers connects here in Hendersonville for people that have moved from Charlotte and they can not catch their old locals.

Where in NC are you?

I'm in Clayton which is 10 miles Southeast of Raleigh and I want the Greensboro locals so I can get the Braves on FSN (here we get the Orioles). I did this with Dish last year with no problems even though I know they use different beams. I'm assuming I would be close enough.

If I were out of the GSO beam range, wouldn't I at least have the FSN channel I desire and have no Raleigh locals?

A resend of authorization and then a reboot may help. The right csr should have been able to fix it while you were on the phone. I've seen resending auth. more than once necessary. Don't let them off the phone 'til its right. They will wait on the phone with you while reboot takes place. Their call lengths are monitored so they tend to try to get off the line as quickly as possible but with a little nudge they will hang on. They know the deal.

i was about to mention that. you can do the re-authorization online. here's the link :https://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/mydirectv/mysystem/mySystemResendAuthorization.jsp?_requestid=157634https://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/login/login.jsp?_requestid=3251254

LOL, even better, they can't hang up. Hahaha

I have called a few times and forget to press end until about 30 sec later I hear "Hello?.....Hello!....Are you still there?" lol

One day my phone got wet and I could not hang up.
I think they had to get a supervisor. lol

When I moved recently, it took three calls to get it done. The first two times the agent thought the information had gone through but because the move would case a fee structure change, it had not. The catch was that I had DNS and was moving to a location that could receive the locals. Once DNS was removed, the agent was able to push through the change and I was then able to get the local channels at my, um...winter home.

Thanks for the replies. I just called them back and apparently the person last night only changed my billing address instead of also changing my service address.

Everything is correct now and my signal levels are still in the 90s. I also recently purchased an AM-21 so I can still get my home locals....so I'm good to go. :)

make sure to check your billing address online and correct it if need be

I had to fix that they had it going to the service address. Maybe I should have left it there, maybe someone would have paid my bill for me :)
