The Iomega is on my 211k as the MAIN drive. No problems so far. The Elements are awesome, though ( I have at least 5 of those). Your choice.

That's a great price. Have you purchased items from Buy.com before? Any comments from you or others on Buy.com? I'm thinking of taking advantage of that price on the same HDD.

I have. I don't shop there a whole lot, perhaps once or twice a year. However, I've never had an issue with them before. Their standard (free) shipping isn't terribly speedy, but expedited is only $5 or $6, on items like hard drives, if you choose. I'd definitely consider them when comparing items - this isn't the first time I've found an item at a lower price there. Plus, they accept Google Checkout, Paypal and eBillme in addition to the standard payment options.
Never had to deal with their CS much though - so I can't speak to that.
If you don't use a cashback site already, I'd recommend it. Saved an extra 4% going through FW.

I guess I'm about to eat my words about their standard/free shipping. My order is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. It appears that it was fulfilled through a regional distribution center (2 states away, most of my previous orders came from CA if I recall), so that likely helped.

1 TB WD for $44.99 at Newegg(recertified)
I Just installed a 1TB WD Green(recertified) with a Diablotek drive dock. Its my first EHD because I just couldn't justify the $40 enable fee. I know recertified hardware scares some but not me. Some of my best hardware has been recertified or refurbished

I pondered trying it, but 2TB is the largest I've tried with my 622...not quite willing to put down that much $ on a 3TB when a 2TB works fine and is under $100...
possibly off topic-can you hook up ps3 or a dvd player with a hard drive?

There are 2TB externals for $90 and even $80 from non-Seagate makers.
I had my eye on a 2TB raw drive for $70 from Amazon but i'm not willing to wait 1-2 months or pay twice as much from others. Are they handmade? (Referred from DealMac.com.)
3TB is no sanctioned, yet. There may be file system problems with software in using more than 2TB, certainly for more than 4TB.
Remember that "2TB" is 2*1000^4 (decimal), and not computer style 2*1024^4 (binary). And the software boundary is likely the latter.

plus the PS3 only recognizes drives FAT formatted drives and have a size limit that they will recognize...
The 622 will only accept ATSC OTA and satellite inputs. It outputs HDMI with HDCP or analog component. So either way you go there is no connection, unless you have analog-to-digital converters for your external recorder, not seen cheaply. I'm assuming you are speaking of HD.
You can record off the Dish SD outputs but that's SD. The Dish EHD is encrypted. Don't know about the internal disk.
It would require capturing the internal and making files with proper formatting from them to put on an external digital recorder, or reversing that for putting your Blu-ray on the Dish disk. Would like it but way too much work and probably illegal.
