Is it possible to record a show I have on my DISH DVR to a VHS tape? Can anyone tell me in very specific easy-to-follow terms? Thanks!!

Sure! On the back of your DVR you will see red, white, and yellow outputs. These are called composite outputs. The red and white are the audio and yellow is the video output. You will see the same thing on your VCR. Simply run a red, white, and yellow cable between the two devices. Now start up your VCR and change its input channel to line in (or something like that). Sometimes you get there by entering channel 0 or 1. Next, find what you want to record to tape on the DVR and start it. At the same time, or very quickly after that, push your record button on the VCR. You will now be recording the output of your DVR.

*Though not as high on quality as the Composite option ... depending on the type of Dish DVR you have, you might just be able to hook up a coaxial cable from the dish box "TV out", to the VCR antenna/cable/tv in .... then it should be just simply setting the VCR to "ch3" (possibly a channel in the 60's or 70's depending on the DVR)and recording.

If we knew the DVR model ... we could go more specific.. even get you some thumbnail pictures.. :)

pretty much like when you used to hook up two vcrs back in the 80s. It was a magical time...
Ok, it was the dark ages, but that's what we had. Also we had to borrow the other vcr from a friend or relative.
