I'm at the point of switching to cable over problems with my 722k... at random, it goes to "Partial Signal Loss." But my 211 doesn't...

The retention people seem to think this is an isolated incidence, and have scheduled a tech to come out...

Is anybody else seeing this happen on their 722k?

Are you using the over the air module? A buddy of mine has been having this problem for months and has had numerous techs come out. Each one was baffled. He thinks he might have figured out the problem. His over the air tuner was cutting out randomly on a station he frequently watches. He noticed that the times he saw the signal loss on the screen he would hit picture in picture button and the over the air station he was having trouble with, was the last thing watched. He removed that over the air channel and has since had a problem. Hope this helps.

I have a similar problem with my VIP222. In my case I just have to change the channel and intermittently the complete signal loss screen comes up and after about 1-2 min it'll switch to partial signal loss. Only a reset will fix this. I have to reset my 222 at least 1 once a week sometimes 3 times a week. My other 211 receiver is fine and have not noticed this problem.

Just hitting the guide fixes it on the 722k, and recordings done at the same time do not have any dropouts. And the 211 never displays the Partial Signal Loss message. Both of those tend to make me discount any hardware problem... seems more like a possibly rare software bug.

Dish wants to replace the receiver... we'll see.

I get this message a few times a week. But, my experience has been when I first tune to a new channel - not while the same channel has been watched for a period of time. When I get the message, I will either hit the guide button or channel up/down and the message goes away. And, I also have an OTA module.

Tech replaced the separator, but the problem's so random it's far too soon to say if the trouble's cleared. I still lean toward software, since when the pop up happens, I go to the guide, that clears the trouble, then exit the guide and go back 10, 20 or 30 seconds and the video and audio play through with no dropouts.. if there was lost video in there, I'd suspect hardware.

Last night, it was happening very frequently while we were trying to watch A&E... and that's not a new channel for this box... though it has been a while since we watched that channel.

It happened 8 times while I was on the phone with DISH... kind of made trying to watch a show hard to do. But that's ok, we can watch it on A&E's website later... which makes me question why I'm paying anybody for TV service

I had a similar problem. Last summer the hard drive died in a 622 I had for about 3 years, and it was replaced with a refurbished machine. 2 or three months later I had a tech come out to move my dish and switch me over to the eastern arc. It was a couple of weeks after the new eastern arc dish was installed that I started experiencing signal loss - but usually it was only on certain channels at certain times - and it was very random. Sometimes I could just change to another channel, but occasionally the whole system would lock up and I'd have to force a reboot. I went through months of this before I finally called in and got them to send a tech to the house. The tech could see I had weak signal on one particular satellite - and only on certain transponders on the satellite. He figured out how to consistently reproduce the problem by tuning to certain channels on the weak transponders and then changing to another channel on a different transponder. He though it must be the LNB, and he replaced those - only to see the problem continue. At that point he replaced my refurb 622 with a new 722 off his truck and the problem went away. That was several months ago and everything has been working fine since then.

I have the same issue, normally it's when there is an OTA channel on the 2nd tv, but not always. (722k)

I am having this problem with my 722. It is to the point that I can not watch anything on any channel without this problem popping up. I have to change the channel back and forth to fix it. I think it is time to change to another provider.

I too am having this Partial Signal Loss multiple times an hour. It is only affecting the live signal we are watching. Any recordings in the background record fine and have no interruptions. This only started happening with the release of software L685. Power hold resets and cord unplug resets do not change the receivers issues. I also had corrupt Program Guide issues last week that screwed up my timers for one day. After resetting multiple times and waiting overnight, the program guide was able to re-download. My 622 has had no issues during this time and also received a software upgrade recently (though I don't know the exact version).

I've been having the same problem with my 722. It began after we were switched from hybrid to EA. Appears to happen on HD channels only, and is totally random. Usually switching to an SD channel brings it back. The last time It happened I checked and it was the 72 sat.
