You think they are going to miss a regular season game? No chance.....doubt they miss anything after the Hall of Fame preseason game. This deal will get done before the US debt ceiling deal.

Now I heard this fromESPN not DTV but I was hearing there may only be a half season of 8 games but at most 12 . But there was not going to be the normal 16 week schedule with the by week.

I don't see that at all right now. The owners approved the deal yesterday and the players are reviewing the deal now. I see them approving the deal no later than Sunday, July 31 and it will probably be a lot earlier than that. They may miss week 1 of the preseason but they won't miss any regular season games and the 17 week NFL season (16 games plus 1 bye week) will go on as normal. In fact, the more preseason games that are missed the lower the salary cap is and that's not a good thing for the players.

They created a backup scenario of the 8 reg season divisional games if it came down to NOT playing the full 16. This would allow them the normal home and aways and decide playoff seating fairly normally. There was no hard decision NOT to play the full reg season yet IF they get their agreement done this weekend. They also put into place a rapid "off-season" scenario for FA period and such.

That's what I heard.

I would say that you guys need to hold off we have only early pre lock out pricing no early bird or renewal pricing in there . DTV said that even the regualr pricing would change if a whole season was not to be played. I thought you all were mature enough to realize that.

I think you missed my point stonecold.

Do you get ST? Did you use to get it but dropped because of the price? Or are you just complaining to help out your buddies. Just trying to figure out where you're coming from? I'm gong to keep it because I'm an NFL junkie and have to have my "fix". Unfortunately there are a lot of us so I think ST sales will be fine. I will call and try to get a discount and probably will succeed , but if I don't I'll pay their price. I'm not going to do without as some kind of a protest. I'm 71 years old and don't have too many seasons left so I sure don't want to miss one over a few bucks.

I was a new D* customer last season, signed up to get the ST deal. Thought it was great, ST on the go package included. My thoughts last season was heck, $300 bucks a season I will do it next season. I also received the letter about a month ago informing that the new price was $335. Further checking and the on the go package not included, it's extra.

I'm sure the NFL/Player deal will get done next week and the NFL will cram everything together to make sure the season starts on time.

Now my problem is, and let's be real here, the season is not going to be your typical NFL season. The quality is going to be far less, how could it not be with teams and players so far behind schedule. The first half of the season is going to have the quality of preseason games. And there is my problem... Pay an increased fee for a decrease of entertainment. Not sure I want to do that. And Shame on D* to even think I would consider that. Treat customers right and you have a long time customer, make them feel cheated and it's a good chance they are short time customers.

your assumption is it will be a lesser quality. may not be the case. however, prices only go down when demand falls, which isnt the case at all.

I think bbixler's post in post 22 is pretty accurate as to what I expect to happen.

Also, like Charper said, the price goes according to DEMAND and the demand is still there, all the games being played or not, people want to see them.

I do not expect the quality to be much less, possibly the first game or two, but you have that same scenario EVERY year when some teams look better than others in the first few weeks.

Remember theres been talk in past years of making the Pre Season down to 2 or 3 games, so that wouldn't be any different than you potentially have here this year IF they end up missing the 1st week of pre season.

The teams that WILL have issues are the teams that have new Coaches and some new players, particularly those with new QB's or new systems.

Fwiw, None of this has anything to do with D*'s pricing for the ST.

Btw, if ALL the people that complain about the ST Price every year and state that they are going to cancel ST actually DID, then maybe they would lose enough that they might consider a new price point plan.
Until then, it's supply and demand.

Another factor to consider is that once the season begins, the price of ST will go down and you can always sub to ST anytime during the season. So (for example) if anybody is worried that the 1st half of the season is going to suck, you can wait until the 2nd half of the season to start and sub to ST then for like $150-200 (I'm just guessing on the price)

Jimbo , that called the voice of reason which is what most who complain about the price dont hear in there heads.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I would LOVE for the ST price to be back to around $ 150-200, but I don't see that happening ....

I pay it because I have a desire to be able to see MY team, otherwise I would see maybe 2-3 games a year. (sometimes more, but you never know from year to year)

Very good point., thanks for the idea, I will keep this in mind.

Never mind! Called in today because for some reason I'm getting very anxious for the season to start and I got a heck of a deal on the ST. Called my buddy and told him, he calls and he was told that they can't do any special offers yet. He is pissed, lol! I told him if worse comes to worse he can come watch the games at my place. He said a grumpy goodbye and said he will try again in a week or two.

Hell yes at your place. Having one person host and having all you buddies over is EXACTLY what the NFL ST is all about!

So what was the deal?

Do the math and Sunday Ticket is $20 every Sunday.

If your a die hard fan and plan on sitting infront of your TV all day long then its a good value at any price. For a person like me who has the game on in the background, its not going to do me much good.

Unless the Lions don't sell out, and then im pretty much screwed.

I know from reading some posts some have already starting negotiating and have received a discount I think i will start once he payment hits my bill which I am thinking will be any day now..

I say this every year but I just have to weight the cost of it

Sent from my iPhone using SatelliteGuys!!

I cancelled too. They didn't offer anything so I didn't ask. I was mad when the lockout first happened due to billionaires and millionaires arguing over money.

i'm off contract so i'm ready to throw my weight around this year. i'll probably continue to get ST even if I don't get a decent deal just because I love it that much :\
