Hi,

I currently have the Top 120 plus regional sports networks and locals with an old 625 receiver. I think we pay $49.99 plus $7 DVR plys $6 for a second receiver.

Our contract expired almost a year ago and I had been thinking of switching to Direct TV to get the MLB network but we were given a year of STARZ free without me asking for anything. Also, last I checked Direct TV is more expensive after their teaser rates expire. However, I have been told those rates are negotiable when the initial rates expire.

If I stay with Dish, I'd like to get HD but had not done anything about it since it was an extra fee. I think that has disappeared now but am not sure if locals in Green Bay Wisconsin are on HD for Dish. We also have some stuff on the DVR we need to watch. So my questions are:

What receiver do I need to get HD and is there a monthly fee with this? OR will my monthly rates change?
Do I get the equipment for free?
Will my locals be in HD? It looks like most are from looking at the Website.
What else do you suggest?

Thanks

I'm in the same boat with my 625. I have delayed upgrading to HD because I have a lot of recordings on the DVR that I want to archive to DVD, and almost daily add to it. Now since being active in this forum I have learned that an HD upgrade will require me to switch to the EA which my currently installed dish can't see due to trees in the neighbor's yard. One of these days I will have to bite the bullet before the HD for life offer runs out.

The Green Bay, WI DMA does have the 4 major networks (ABC/CBS/FOX/NBC) in HD, so you would be able to receive them.

HD programming used to be $10 a month, but now you have the option of getting HD Free for life, so you wouldn't pay the $10 a month, and still get your HD programming. The receiver you get will depend on what you want (probably a 722 and 211). The rest depends your account (price and things), but if you PM your phone number or account number I can answer your questions.
