amc3 replacement satellite?

do you think once this replacement satellite is in orbit,people with the 6 foot dishes will be able to bring in the rtv networks with no problem? i can receive quite a few dvbs2 broadcast with my openbox s9 and 6 foot reflector...even weather nation on 87w but not a smidge of a signal from the rtv networks.Maybe this satellite will produce more power.

Don't think AMC3 is going to be replaced anytime real soon. It was launched in '97, and a typical 15 year lifetime puts retirement in 2012 or later. SES3 is going to replace AMC1 @ 103°W shortly. (Hopefully it corrects the oddball skew on Ku) Was launched last month, and, I would think, is presently undergoing testing. Will have to watch 103°W to see if there's any signal/coverage increases. Maybe, we will be given a clue.
SES2 will replace AMC3 @ 87°W with an expected launch date of Q3-2011, will have to wait and see if, and when, it gets off the ground.

I certainly wouldn't count on it, you can't change physics.

you might get lucky in that signal strength is a little bit higher and there is no interfering signals or transmissions on nearby birds so that you might get lock.
