I have noticed a minor irritation with my 722K. If I tune to one of the Sirius channels, the 722K will not respond to my remote. No matter what button I push on the remote, the tuner does not respond. If I get up and open the front panel and push the menu button and bring up the menu screen, I can then press the guide button on the remote and bring up the guide to tune to another channel. I have tried changing the Remote Address but, that had no effect. Replaced batteries in the remote, no effect. And, it only occurs when tuned to a Sirius or Music channel. Any ideas or suggestions besides getting a replacement 722K?

It sounds like those channels are causing IR interference. Is the remote you are using a 20.0 or 21.0? You can find that on the back of the remote.

Oh, one other thing I wanted to mention, which may confirm the IR interference, a Vizio universal IR remote set to control the 722K suffers the same issue.

What do all music channels have in common? Black backgrounds and white type in a light blue field that is always moving. Without asking, I will bet your TV is an LCD and the auto backlight and or auto brightness/contrast controls are on and are causing the interference by trying to compensate the light to dark ratio. Try turning them off.

You win that bet, it is an LCD. I will check the TV settings and look for those auto controls. Of course, the next question that pops in my head is, what effect on the other channels will it have if I turn off those "auto" options? The TV is a Vizio LCD, don't have model number handy at the moment.

OK, since it's about 4-5 hours before I will be in front of the TV to test anything... I'm just "supposing" a few things...

If it is the auto backlight or auto brightness, etc. Simply turning off the TV and attempting to change channels would basically answer that question, right?

If I don't want to change my TV settings, is there any reason not to run the remote in UHF mode?

You confirmed my prediction... You DO have a Vizio TV. When the TV goes into power saving mode, it emits interference. On some Vizio's you can even see where it dims briefly when changing channels. When you're listening to Sirius channels there's not much on the screen so it goes into low-power mode. If it's possible, you can move the receiver away from the TV or try to get the receiver as far in front of the screen as possible. Our neighbor has the same issue with her setup sometimes. Dish receivers seem to have a crappy remote sensor because I never could get my 722 to work with an IR repeater. All my other components (amp, x-box, bd player) all work fine hidden behind the cabinet doors (with IR repeater) but no matter what I did, the DN receiver was just stupid. But anyways... Now that you have a diagnosis... Good luck.

As promised, here are my results, if I have the TV turned off, I can change channels with no problems, remote responds as normal. And, I was mistaken, it is a 20.0 IR not the 21.0. I think I have a 21.0 around here somewhere, if I can find it, I'll try switching over to UHF. Anyway, thanks to all that pitched in, at least I know how to get around it now, just turn off the telly!

Update #2: Found the 21.0 remote and set it for UHF for TV1. Works great, actually better in my house than the IR cause I can wander around and still be in control. And, really, isn't that all any man wants? :) Thanks again to everyone that helped out, much appreciated.

I hope this turns out to be the problem -- I am in awe of your critical thinking and analytical skills! And rrp13 followed up with a worthy test for the hypothesis. Scott: Please issue these folks SatGuys troubleshooting merit badges! The rest of us should pay attention and learn.
