Suggestions with a 250' coax run?

I live in a forest and that is as close as I can get.

New setup (wife approved) 10' unimesh dish, C/Ku Lnbf, DiSEqC positioner, with my CW LMC-4000HD.

The DVB-S2 tuner runs 400 mA and I'm worried about the internal DiSEqC switch and DC at the LNBs.

I'm thinking by the specs of the RG-11 BC, the 14ga pure copper conductor will work and way better than the various RG-11 CCS cables.

If you are going to bury the run be sure the coax is designed for direct burial.

Be sure the cable is well shielded. Quad shielding if cable will be aerial.

Be sure fittings are the best, seal tightly and are water proof. If you don't have the correct tools for RG11 find someone who does. Great cable with poorly applied fittings will cause you problems.
 
My "wife approved" farm is a little under 300 feet from my house and I am

running only RG6 with no problems. You might consider putting your coax

inside of schedule 40 conduit for added protection and possibly making it

easier to run more cable in the future without digging. Insert a small

diameter rope along with the coax so you can pull another run in the future.

I used 1 1/4" conduit but for a little more money I could of went

1 1/2" and skipped dinner with the wife! ;)

The cable will be flooded burial, have adjustable dies to RG-11 in my snap/seal tool, but have you any experience with the DC at long cable runs?

I can not find a 300' piece of this type of cable to purchase and temporary hook up and try but CCS.

Yes, I also was thinking about future upgrade cables/repairs using conduit.

On your successful long cable run, are you using a pollinator servo LNB or a single cable LNBF?

Currently I am running a DMX741 LNBF on my 10' Channelmaster and running

a coax for C band and another coax for Ku. It is actually satellite ribbon cable so

I can set up a LNB and the servo wires are there. I also have another coax going to

my 1M Ku dish along with a couple extra coax cables for future plus a spare ribbon

cable for ??? ;)

Great, so polarization switching at that length is no problem for you using the RG-6 DC voltage.:)

Have you ever tested the internal DiSEqC switch of the DMX741 using just one RG-6 cable for C/Ku successfully?

I'm asking as this is the LNBF I have chosen to use too.

It has been working great for me! :up

I have the "separates" hooked to my DSR922 4DTV and

never tried the internal switch. In the house I have splitters

where I tap in my OpenBox for C band and use a DiSEqC

switch for C or Ku. The 1M is currently dedicated to

History until I get my 4DTV subbed this fall. This works for

me until I get dedicated BUDs set up for FTA and 4DTV!

Looks like I better take my wife to dinner with that idea! :eek:

Yes I may need to do the same if I can't switch at the LNBF. I would need two runs of coax and larger conduit.;)

One more thing...

The DMX741 lnbf works well for me on the BUD for Ku.

However we get a lot of "lake effect" snow! In the fall and early spring

it is a wet snow and at night when the temperature dips it freezes on

the BUD. It does not take much to knock out the Ku with that wet

frozen crud so that is why I want a separate smaller Ku dish. :smow:
 
I appreciate your efforts trying the internal LNBF switch at your coax range.

I have a motorized 42" with a quad invicom I use for Ku but thought I might test Ku on the 10'.

If every thing works as planed, I have a 18" motor with a manual positioner that I'm adapting to use with the BUD for vertical finetune. (I know, over Kill) ;)

My CW-LMC has 4 tuners so after the BUD setup is finished, I'm hoping to test any signal.:D
