I'm wondering why I'm getting blackout of the Rangers @ Red Sox game...I'm no where close to either city. The second game I should be blackout out since it will be on my RSN...though it would be nice to watch the MLB channel until the HD feed comes on my RSN.

This is exactly why I posted what I posted in my prior post

MLBNetwork sets up their own broadcast coverage in addition to MLB Blackout rules. Parts of the country get on game and other parts get the alternate game. If you happen to be in the area that gets the alternate game, then the main game will be blacked out. Without the alternate channel you will not be able to see the alternate game

This channel is awesome during the offseason. Several classic games, top games, top plays shows, top players shows, news programs, ex.

I am not trying to start a directv vs dish war, but what serious Baseball fan would bother. YEY, you get to see some highlights of a game that you couldn't watch because Dish doesn't carry MLB EI and many RSNs.

It will be great as a news source for free agent acquisitions. More in-depth than SC. Hopefully I'll catch the Dennis Martinez perfect game he pitched out at Dodger Stadium as a Montreal Expo sometime.

in the winter they have some classic games and they have shown it before. They even showed a 1970 Expos game from kinescope  (and in B&W)

I would and I am a serious baseball fan. To baseball fans with Dish whom have been deprived for a long time, this is a very very very excellent move by Dish. This channel shows a game almost everyday that you would not otherwise be able to see. It has much better news programs than ESPN. They have live look-ins and analysis when they are not showing a game. Has excellent programming outside of games, analysis, look ins, and news.

Here is their programming schedule. Look through the various days and see the variety of programming they offer. The best time is during primetime and daytime

MLB Network: TV Schedule

Next live game is Saturday. D-Backs and Giants on the main channel. Twins and Angels on the alternate channel (maybe Dish may open up a temporary channel for the game during that time?)

They show games everyday except Friday's and Sunday's. Many weeks days they show two games

I had stopped reading the MLB network threads. Didn't think there was any real chance of it landing on Dish. I'm very glad I was wrong. Thanks, Dish!

Has anyone heard or read anything about MLB Network upgrading their audio to 5.1?? I tried Googling the subject and only saw various discussions asking the same thing. It's the one thing that stood out to me when I was comparing the NESN coverage to MLBN (after 22:00)...

BTW - NFL Network is also not 5.1 either....

Is the audio issue with Dish or with MLB Network? If it is the network I never noticed if it was in 5.1 or not. I'll have to check when I get home

Wow! I posted on 8/31, as I had learned Charter finally signed with the NFL, so was seriously looking at jumping ship. Then, I just got an email two hours ago, telling me Dish signed on with MLB! We did a happy dance in this house.

As others have said, if you are a baseball person, this channel is nirvana. Even in the offseason. Hot Stove stuff is great. I love baseball history, also.

I thought I'd love it, and for the short time I had it last year with Comcast, before moving, I loved it even more than I thought I would. It was definitely my most watched channel. Their late afternoon/evening show(MLB tonight? is very cool, and their wrapup show(Quick Pitch I think?) is unbeatable.

Thanks for the early Christmas present Dish! Glad I didn't act too hastily!

I'm a baseball fan, but I've got to say my enthusiasm for this is pretty muted, because it's not on their basic 120/120+ tier as a regular thing. I didn't get it a couple days ago, and after the free preview expires at the end of the month, I still won't get it. Whether Dish technically carries it or not is pretty irreverent to me if it's not going to be on my tv.

Having said that, I did see the last inning or two of the Yankees-Red Sox game last night on the MLB Network free preview, which was pretty cool (Even though both teams are rivals of my beloved, but extremely inept favorite team, the Baltimore Orioles). It was nice to hear Bob Costas call a baseball game again.
