He at SatelliteGuys one of the great things about this site is we are able to put our ear to the ground and post these rumors.

This rumor was originally posted in our PUB Members forum where our supporters often hear these rumors first. But now since we are just a few hours before the official announcement I am moving this thread to the public forums so we can see how we did. :)

I got to admit I am excited by the new Blockbuster Movie Pass, but expect there to be a lot of questions when its announced today at 1PM ET / 10PM PT.

Remember SatelliteGuys was the first site to report that their was going to be this special press event today. Now you know who these anonymous sources are that the newspapers have been referring to all week. Yup even the mainstream news media gets its satellite news from just one place. That place of course is SatelliteGuys.US!

Don't forget we will be streaming today's announcement LIVE on our homepage. So make sure you watch there and see how we did with our rumor. :)

Thanks for being SatelliteGuys!

Looking foward to the Press conference today. And yes while I am a Direct sub, I am a satellite fan and look foward to hearing new information about how the industry may be changing and more specificly the Dish product may be changing

Okay here is my question. Will the shows play at normal speed like NETFLIX or will they have to be downloaded and then played later like DISH CINEMA?

Just a side note that Netflix has a setting called "Manage video quality". Setting it to the middle setting stops this. No HD though....

I wonder how or if to what extent will they incorporate streaming with blockbuster into there current packages (120, 200, 250 and such)

Sent from my iPhone using SatelliteGuys!!

For the sake of argument, say I have 120+ w/Platinum and a 211k--also a Costco Vizio BD with BB --does this mean I will or won't get this rumored goodness?

--I won't be able to get back into the loop here 'til late in the day, wondering if anyone might know this now....

I hope this becomes a successful move for Dish. Netflix needs a good competitor to keep prices in check and open the door for more options. This may also help Dish grow in subscribers as well.

This ad for the Pub has been brought to you by the Sat Guys owner Scott G. A great value at any price. How's that for kissing the A of the owner. ;) LOL. JK Scott.

If it operates the way Dish's current "on demand" (Hah !!) setup works, we won't be using it, free or not. I have 6mb DSL (and consistently get 5m downloads) and waiting 1, 2, 3 or more hours after requesting my "on demand" event is pathetic. Netflix streaming, on the other hand, allowed me to watch (their version of) HD quality with NO buffering and started in 1-2 minutes, not hours.

Well, the 1080p/24 file downloads take several hours on a 6mbps, but streaming 1080p/24 thru something like Vudu is instantaneous. depends on the implementation.

Agreed. With Netflix on my google revue unit I get movies to start within seconds. I don't use the DISH Cinema because it takes forever to download .

Hall- if you had a good Comcast ISP, 45Mbs you would get Netflix streaming movies in HD quality DD5.1 audio in 2-3 seconds upon selection and it streams with no stuttering and looks like DishNetwork HD channels off satellite. That part is actually faster than my Blu ray player loads a BD! It's not BluRay quality yet but getting there. I think we can thank Level 3 and Limelight companies for this quality. They and a few others are the behind the scenes companies that actually bridge the streaming services from Netflix to your ISP. They do Vudu and Hulu as well as many networks too.

Directv's VOD is the same way, once again, implementation. They said "streaming" service, not download. Netflix is "streaming" as is Vudu.
