Cold, Cold,Michigan USA
Had another great trip up to Traverse City and a good lunch with Jim(Pixl) and Eric, engineers from the radio station, and a great dish pickup. We removed one of Jim's Prodelin 1.2M dishes to make room for his 1.8M some day. Got that big guy in my garage now wishing it was not so darn cold here in Michigan. I guess it could be worse. Have seen many inches of snow in past years this time of year. Sure would be nice to get that 1.2M up but it is just so hard to work on dishes when in 5 minutes your fingers are so cold you can no longer hold a wrench. Gloves don't help with small screws and bolts, so.....bummer. Just need to put up a force field and heat that area. Ooooops, thinking 23rd century again. Maybe I will get it up and maybe not.
Sure had a great time gathering the dish and some parts.:)

Thanks Jim!

Assemble on an NPRM* in the warmth of the garage. Slide it out to the farm. At least for one season. No small tools required then. I did basically the same thing to get the 2nd 1.2 operational. Still haven't finished building a polar mount for it :(. But winter has arrived and outdoor dish work is at a virtual stand still. *crossed planks, pallet, or ??

Yes, I will do stated work in a heated garage today. But you still have to adjust, play with bolts, coax, and in this case have to move stuff around to get a place to put it. So I do have some outdoor work on it. Actually it has warmed up today. Up to 48 degrees(I call that cold)now, but VERY windy. May just get other dish moved and some wires changed and garage work today.

Oh, and if you ever get tired of that puddy(I think that is Puppi)you can ship to me. I'm sure I could enjoy "The Stare.":)

Found some time today and have the frame for the Prodelin almost done. The motor arrived today so I could work on the frame more than expected. Good chance I will get the dish up on saturday. Rain not until 7:30 Pm. Too dam dark out to work at that time anway. Motor looks OK. Not 100% as ordered, but that is how some of these foreign run US companies operate. Manual is funny to read. Not of much value.
Fun on Saturday.

Dish Work

Found time today to finish the mount for the motor on the 1.2M Prodelin. Got it up today and tested the motor. The specifications for the Powermax SG9120 stated up to 1.2M dish. They should have also stated on a 1.2M an exception for that size. Only move it about 20 degrees East or West. Beyond that point the motor just cannot move that monster. So for the time being, the 1.2M will have to be used in one place. Then the rain came. Better than that #%$@# snow. Maybe more fun on Sunday, maybe not......
