Anyone see what happened to the poor Chicago QB Caleb Hanie yesterday? The game is winding down, they're far from the end zone but trying to drive down the field to win, they need to spike the ball in the last ten seconds to set up one last hail mary because they're out of timeouts.

They get to the line and snap the ball with about ten seconds left...poor kid fakes a Marino, waits a second, receivers aren't open (I don't even think they were moving) so he spikes the ball. And he's called for intentional grounding! There are less than ten seconds to go, so with the ten second runoff the game is over.

LOL just when you think you've seen everything! Felt bad for the kid.

From the Twitters re: The financial inequity if Suh get's suspended...

Salaries are structured in guaranteed vs. non guaranteed monies. Suh will make $40M guaranteed this year. His "salary" will be only $1.4M. If suspended, he will lose a mere $82k a game.

IF he was PLANNING on doing that...you would think someone would tell him to either spike it or throw it. Cannot blame the kid at all.

I do not care what ANYONE says... $82 grand is NOT a "mere" anything!

Noooo not blaming the kid...although I suppose you can make the argument he should know the rules. But it was a heat of the moment thing that he probably never saw happen on TV in his life...I know I never did.

The look on his face when the referee made the call was priceless though.

When your total income in 1 year is $41,400,000 and you get penalized $82,000, that is just .19% of your total salary.

In other words, if you make $60,000 a year and get penalized the same percentage, that would be the equivalent of being penalized a mere $118.

No...was not stating you blame. I mean if his plan was either...SOMEONE should have told him what might happen. I WOULD say I felt bad...but considering my Raiders needed the win. I won't...:D

That's you maybe...but $82 grand...is $82 grand....any way you divide it.

But maybe it's me...:o

Totally agree, Bill. One week the split was 10-3, another week it was 7-6. What the heck?

Selfishly I wish it was always 7-6, but I do understand that for the sake of their fans attending the game, eastern time zone teams want to play their home games at 1PM and not 4PM.

Sandra

To this point, the Patriots have played in only 1PM game- Week 3 @Buffalo. They will play their second one this Sunday, but even that was scheduled to be an 8:15PM game. In fact, the Pats had only two SCHEDULED 1PM home games this season- Christmas Eve and New Year's Day.

I'm not complaining, mind you......I prefer the 4PM games for the Pats. :)

Suh is not making $41M this year.

8/3/2010: Signed a five-year, $60 million contract. The deal contains $40 million guaranteed. Another $8 million is available through incentives.
2011: $1.405 million, 2012: $9.25 million, 2013: $11.15 million, 2014: $11.55 million, 2015: $3.505 million (Voidable Year), 2016: Free Agent

The NFL has moved the Week 14 (Dec. 11) Raiders-Packers game to 4:15pm ET. The game will serve as the main doubleheader game for CBS. Also, to the surprise of no one, the Giants-Cowboys game will remain as the Sunday Night Football game that evening.

Makes sense. With the NFC East title on the line for both teams, the Giants-Cowboys game would have the biggest playoff implications for that week. I think some other worthy games for SNF that week could have been Raiders-Packers and Bears-Broncos.

Just read that. I am HOPING that by that game, we could have 2 game lead on the Donks!

No more home night games for us, thank you!! Hate getting home at 1:00AM on a school night!

Yes, but did the Faiders win any of them?

I am oh-for Buffalo(0-3), oh-for-Jax(0-1), 3-2 in Miami, 1-0 in Tampa, 1-0 in Atlanta and 2-6 in Oakland since joining here...overall, 5-12! BLLAAHHH!!!:(

But things are looking up...yep, with a team that had 'no chance of being .500 after losing Nnamdi, Miller, firing a coach that took them to their best record since 2002 and Jason Campbell at QB AND a tougher schedule than last year'....;)

Yep...not too shabby at all so far.
