I am considering upgrading the VIP 722 with another and adding two more tuners, it would be more affective to get two 722 units instead of a 722 and two single tuners by saving a bit on my monthly receiver cost

Having (2) 722 recievers on your account will cost $17.00 a month in reciever fees.
Having (2) 211 receivers on your account will cost $14.00 a month and a one time $40.00 fee, you can convert both of them the a DVR.

How much more does a 922 run, if I decided to go with a 922 and 722 instead of (2) 722 units, taking into consideration that I am an existing customer

$200 more for the 922 and I think the DVR fee is $10 a month
$0.00 if you qualify, pending account/history. BUT, new shipments of 922's have been suspended until the software becomes compatible with BBMP.

I got (2)722K to install in my own home, is there a way to transfer all timers and programs/shows. Or will I have to move shows to an external hard drive and manually enter timers on new receiver?

Timers can be backed up from a 722K, not a 722 which I assume is what you are asking since in your OP you said you had a 722. Yes, you will have to move shows to an EHD and manually add timers. Take digital photos of your timers presently on the 722.

You will need an EHD to transfer all your recorded events from one receiver to another. You can use the EHD between the 2 722k receivers. You can also use the remotes for the receiver to save the Timers, Favorite Lists, and remote settings to the remote. If you have further questions, please let me know. Thanks.

Does the receiver have to hooked in to the satellite to get it reactivated? I had the receiver disconnect and it still was deactivated

Yes, you can do a backup by pressing/hold "0" and release on the remote. This will bring up the system wizard screen. You'll have 3 options for the backup - receiver, remote, or both. Thanks.

I do not see these options when I activate the system wizard. I do not see it refered to in the 21.0 manual linked here. I have a 722K with a 21.0.

Is see "the receiver does not recognize this remote. To use this remote press continue. For more options press advanced: But there is no advanced button.
