Was going Christmas Shopping and was at Best Buy picking up some stuff and saw that they had the Sony Playstation 3DTV on sale for $299. So I decided it was a good deal for a 1080p TV which will replace the 24 inch 720p Insignia next to my bed.

I also picked up a second pair of 3D glasses for $69.

I haven't set it up yet, but hope to get time soon, but one of the things I like is the 3D glasses work with any active shutter TV no matter who made it! The glasses work great with my panasonic 3D TV in my bedroom, in fact I think the glasses work better then the official Panasonic ones. The panasonic you need to have you head raised or it loses the signal and the glasses shut off, this is not the issue with the Playstation glasses.

$299 is a great deal to get into 3DTV.

Congrats! Let us know how it works for you.

Got it hooked up and got to say I am really surprised. The 3D quality of this TV is better then my 50 Inch Panasonic. I am watching a basketball game on ESPN 3D and there is more dimension then on the big TV. Feels like I am actually sitting in the stands.

In addition I was able to play my 3D Bluray Rip of Avatar 3D. While I have had no issues watching it from the BluRay, this is the first time I have been able to watch it from my NAS... (and surprisingly I am playing off my GoogleTV which seems to now play my HD Bluray rips! (Note I ripped the DVD using DVDFab in Side by Side mode.

The two things I dont like about this TV are...

1) No remote, however I selected a random Sony TV and all controls work fine so really a non issue.

2) A lot of glare of the screen and in the glasses. If I have the lights on in the room it reflects inside the glasses. If I cum my hand around the glasses blocking the light coming in the picture is even better in 3D mode. For this TV its best to watch in a dimly lit room (or dark room)

What I really like about it is... when in a darkened room out of the box this TV has amazing PQ. In fact I dont recall any other TV looking so good out of the box.

For $299 this tv was a steal! :)

Just one question -

You have TWO TV's in your bedroom??
Three actually.

The main 50 inch Panasonic 3D set.
The Sony Playstation 3D TV which I use to watch TV when my wife is watching something on the big TV I don't want to watch. (Or while I am scanning the skies on my FTA DISH.)
And a small 19 inch TV for monitoring the security cameras.

I got to admit the more I use this Sony Playstation TV last night the more I liked it. :)

Slightly older post but I was wondering, do you have a PS3 to hook up to it? I was checking this PS3 3D display out on the ps3 website and it shows what they call Simulview(TM) and it says that it will play a game in 2D 1080P but from what I make out of the short description when you have that enabled you can play 2 player games without using split screen. But the link for it is broken so I didn't catch any details. From what I can make of it , it uses the glasses and 3D capabilities to interlace two screens in one display. Wondering if that is true because that would be absolutely awesome for playing a 2P game!

Ed- sometimes a movie is so boring we fall asleep. But, the bedroom is for getting undressed, getting dressed and everything in between. :D

As a single Dad, the bedroom is MY space. Everywhere else in the house is fair game, but when I close the door to my bedroom, it is my refuge. Of course I need a TV there. And 5.1 audio. And a BluRay. And internet access...
