Ok so Alcatraz got skipped in the history due Nascar. Cool feature.

Two and Half Men...skipped...listed as first run in series manager. Skipped and not listed in the history.

Chopper... cancelled due to programming update. There was no programming update. Its a new episode.

Pawn stars...cancelled due to programming update yet it is recording anyways. Weird.

I think it skipped another one due to programming update but I can't remember the name.

So it skips new shows due to some supposed programming update yet it records shows that aired last week even they it is set to first run only and even says it aired last week in the guide info.

Weeeeiiiirrrddddd..... if its still acting up Thursday that tech will be bringing another HR34 with him as well. The wife is itching to ream someone at directv due to her shows getting skipped...I called off the dogs until tomorrow night though.

That is weird. I have never had any of these issues. I wonder if it has to do with some software bug specific to the HR34 or some MRV software issue.

Try two reboots in a row to flush guide data. I had some programs skipped for same "programming update". Did a double reboot and haven't had it in the past few days.

I just tried the reboot. Hahahahah.... it said my 3 shows that skipped last night were conflicting with a reboot but yet it wasn't recording anything. Ummmm... that was yesterday ;)

This ^^

Since I did that on Sunday it's been much better. And you're gonna have to ride this out a little bit digi but at the end you'll be happy. Just give it a little time.

Interesting. Guess we have another bug in the software :/

With my install fast approaching this saturday. I'm wondering if i should just skip the HMC and get 2 regular HDDVR's. Do any of you guys wished you would have passed on the HMC? Also, i know many of you are running the beta software. Does the receiver have any bugs right out of the box with factory original software?

While the HMC can be buggy the first couple days it seems to be smooth after that.
had mine for 11 days now. In first 5 days had to do two reboots due to freezing (nothing on screen). Did the CE last Friday and havent had those issues anymore

Have lost two recordings due to "programming update"...one was a MLB Countdown episode (found a replay...no issues) and one was a college bb game...and the way they played it was better it didint record

It seems odd that as good as the HR24 is,the HR34 would have such growing pains. But then I guess 5 tuners is new territory so the bugs have to be worked out. Personally,I'm happy with my 3 HD DVR's so I never saw a need for the HR34. If I was a new customer though.............:)

Okay, is sounding like it's a keeper!:D
Here's another question? Are you able to pause and rewind live TV from a daughter (h25) unit?

No. You will have to record the program. Think about it. If you tune to ESPN on the H25, the HR34 has no idea you are watching that so it doesn't buffer it. The H25 doesn't have a hard drive so it can't rewind it. Now if you record it then the H25 can do whatever it chooses with the video stream at the point.

Here's one for you. I noticed in the list that it was recording two streams of American Idol (no I don't watch that garbage, so keep the jokes away). If you go to the history it says it skipped American Idol due a programming update. "Umm...no you didn't...you are recording it TWO times at the same time!"

Watching over MRV on the H25's has been working great. Zero issues there for me. Just the oddity in the recordings firing. Definitely keeping an eye on it.

How are your H25's "talking" to the HMC? Through the coax or on your home network? I was told only the HMC needs ethernet. Is that true? Thanks again!

To add to whatever answer you get about how the HMC is hooked up(I heard you can hook it up by ethernet),with the H25,you can only hook it up to your home network by coaxial cable,it doesn't have an ethernet input. It can only be hooked up DECA only.

do you have the latest software download?

I'm on the CE from last weekend.

I have one broadband DECA hooked up. The guy tried to do a wireless one but I told him, nope, I have an extra RG-6 and an ethernet jack right here that you can use. He didn't have to run one single piece of coax in the house. Only from his dish location to my existing wiring I had on the outside of the house. He would have have been in and out but he messed around by mounting the dish to high after I told him it was too high and his boss stopped by and he chatted with him for about 30 minutes.

Have you tried downloading the NR instead?
