I've been a customer for 3 years. I called a month ago and was told a Hopper a 2 Joeys would run me $199 total to upgrade.

Today I contact Dish on twitter, they first tell me its $700 to upgrade to 1H + 2J... And then later tell me that the retail price is actually $647.

My friend who has the same Dish setup as me, got it roughly the same time I did, and he's only paying $99 for 1H + 2J... Insane.

Actually thinking about switching to those-other-guys....

CSR's are just getting up to speed on Hopper and Joey, up until today for many of them they didn't even know the Hopper existed.

I would try again later today and you will find the information is more accurate from all the CSR's. :)

Sometimes patience is a vertue. :D

Well I'm DNS Tech.. So I called Dash and csr agent quoted me $200 per hopper... so $400 if i wanted to 2 hoppers.. Asked to me transfer to loyalty she refused to transfer me. So I hung and called the 800 number and got quoted $100 per hopper.. $200 for 2 hoppers and 2 joeys. don't know if I got charge $400 or $200 I will need to wait and see.. Got email showing the change but it's all wrong.. She setup me up for 2 Hoppers and 4 Joeys.. I'll need to fix that part later...

I was told $99 but I had to sign a 2 year contract with no incentives. Holding off because of the contract.

I am new to the forum and signed up just to reply to this thread. Very frustrated right now. I called them this morning and was quoted the same 647.00 for 1 hopper 2 joeys. When asked if they wanted to loose a loyal (over 5 years) customer I was told there was nothing they could do. After hanging up I entered a chat and got the same response. Also asked what prevented me from caneclling and signing up again and was informed that any request for service within 6 months would be treated as a reconnect and the fees assesed. To add insult to injury I told the CSR that I would be re-evaluating my choice in entertainment providers, and recieved a response that Dish offers best in class service and support, and the latest in technology that can not be matched by C**LE. I said, yes but they dont charge me 650 for the latest technology. As a professional in the audiovisual industry I find it astounding that current subscribers are getting the short end of the stick.

Zero for me as we're holding off, if we even decide to upgrade. It all depends on if DISH does get OTA support this summer :D

Welcome to all the new folks who have joined!! :welcome

Did you do an upgrade fairly recently? Are you still in a contract commitment? You might ask one of the DIRT members here to look into it for you.

Wait a bit and see what it will be when the dust settles. Things are going to be a little crazy this morning. You may also want to get some help from the Dish Internet Response Team on here. Also known a DIRT to all of us.

The only reason a customer would have to pay that much to get the Hopper system is if they did not qualify for an upgrade. There is generally a valid reason as to why a customer does not qualify.

I just placed my order for 2 hoppers, price was $200.00 total with installation for no charge (I have the service plan) Installation is scheduled for Friday morning.

I have not upgraded other than to add the sling adapter to my 722 a year ago, no new contracts since my initial 2 year contract signed on 10/2/2007.

Forgive the newbie but what is a DIRT member...

$179.04 for a 2 Hopper/2 Joey setup. $20.96 credit for turning in my 2 722's that I wouldnt be able to use anyway.

DIRT stands for DISH Internet Response Team. Under the Who's Logged On in the main page, their names will show up in Red. Send one of them a Private Message (PM) and they will be able to help you.

Like I said before but will say it again...

Try back again later. This always happens on the morning when they introduce something new.

They don't have their ducks all lined up in a row yet. :)

This is why I advise people not to call first thing. :D

sounds like if we want to upgrade we should wait a few days until the dust settles. I just want one hopper and one joey and I have been with dish a long time (not under contract) and still have my 722k I have had for years. I was elgible for an upgrade when the 922 came out but decided (thankfully) not to pull the trigger becuase of all the bugs. I would think I would be able to get an upgrade pretty easily, but who knows. I have the following

Dish America Silver
DVR Service
Protection Plan
Starz 1/2 - 6 Mo ($13/Mo)

Monthly Charges$68.49 (excludes taxes/credits)

We just got Dish Network in January. We have 2 hdtvs. I called to order the hopper and they said it would be $350.00. That's a bit too expensive for me. Maybe in the future the upgrade fee will be a bit cheaper.

I just ordered the Hopper (no Joey). Cost was $200. I was hoping for $99 but I guess I haven't been with them long enough. I was with them for 2 years about 5 years ago and then switched to cable. I just signed another contract with Dish 4 months ago. I did get them to throw in 3 months of HBO, Cinemax and Starz however.
