How many, I do not know, but when the Dolphins had a decent product, they WOULD sell out.

As far as who they sell "season tickets" to...obvious that you have not come down to Miami in a while.

I've never been there. I only "know" what I read

From a Palm Beach newspaper, December 31, 2011

"Empty seats have become all-too common at Sun Life Stadium. The Dolphins were forced to buy thousands of their own tickets to avoid a local TV blackout for five of eight home games. According to The Sports Business Journal, the Dolphins saw a 14 percent decrease in actual attendance from last year to this year, the second-largest drop in the NFL.

I just Googled "Miami Dolphins" and "actual attendance" and found those two terms in an issue of the Ocala Star Banner, dated Mar 1982, that reported that 23,000 sold tickets were unused in eight regular season and one playoff game in the 1981 season.

Bad team=empty seats. Simple math really.

Hell, during the Marino years, they had some good team...but never a Super Bowl teams. But it was a good, entertaing product that packed the old Orange Bowl then Joe Robbie Stadium.

And Palm Beach...lol. Listen, both Palm Beach and Broward counties have had their shots of having the Dolphins and/or the Marlins in their backyard and never stepped up to the plate. Its a miracle they support the Panthers....don't believe the hype.

what do you expect when the dolphins year after year puts a terrible product on the field??? but when miami was relevant the stadium was packed most of the time.

I'm curious as to how that would work; how would they prove that?? I've heard of corporations buying up seats to get a sellout, but never the team itself...

GREAT match-up in our nation's capitol on Sunday. All indication point to a Strasberg vs. Josh Johnson match. That should be a ton to watch.

Strasburg's rotation turn is due for Saturday. Have you heard anything to indicate that it might be pushed back?

Why are the Red Sox and Yankees starting at 3:00 this afternoon?

Set your DVRs...

The game is scheduled for 3:05 p.m., the same time the Red Sox played their first game at Fenway on April 20, 1912. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. and ceremonies will begin at 2, with composer John Williams conducting members of the Boston Pops in the debut of his new composition, "Fanfare for Fenway.

"John Williams conducting members of the Boston Pops in the debut of his new composition, "Fanfare for Fenway. "

Probably some combination of "Superman", "Jaws", "Close Encounters", "Take Me Out to the Ballgame", and "The Star Spangled Banner". :)

What, and miss the big 100 birthday party? :)

Don't get me started on this "celebration". Yeah, it's cool to see players come back and stuff like that. To me this is just a "look at us, aren't we awesome" moment for Henry, Luchino and Werner".

Fenway is cool and a landmark, but when we go we get our friends season tickets up the right field line. I always end up with a neck cramp because the seats face center field. If you're over 5'8" 160lbs the seats are very cramped. The original Garden was replaced, and so should Fenway.

Yeah. I heard last night during some news of the Marlins upcoming series with the Nats, but I ONLY heard the back end. They stated that on Sunday, it would Strasburg vs. Johnson.

I cannot BELIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVE that the MLB is still playing in 100 year old stadiums. There should be a rule that a stadium can only stand for 10 years & then be torn down & replaced by a more expensive & extravagant one afterwards(payed for by more & more outrageous ticket prices & taxpayer money of course). Wrigley Field? Gone. Fenway Park? buh bye. Dodger Stadium? Yer outa here. Also I feel that broadcasters & sideline reporters should be compelled to dress up in their most colorful "Willy Wonka/Alice In Wonderland" costumes, wigs,& dyed hair as seen in "the Hunger Games" when they are on TV(can't you just picture Vin Scully,Joe Buck,& Tim McCarver now?). Now THAT'S progress.

I gotta tell ya, regardless of what that gasbag douche, Lance Berkman said about Marlins stadium:

"I wasn't real sure we were playing a baseball game, to be honest with you. It seemed more like an SEC football game for a while. But they did intend for us to play baseball. I found out about 15 minutes before first pitch."
"There were a lot of shenanigans. The thing about it is, if I was building a new ballpark ... one of the things about baseball that people gravitate toward is nostalgia. That's why people love Wrigley Field. They love Fenway Park. You can kind of step back in time."
"What they tried to do here is step forward in time. A lot of the things you normally associate with baseball ... you don't see cheerleaders at baseball games. They were there tonight. You don't see flamenco dancers. They were there tonight. You don't see DJs and bands during the game. You saw that tonight. ... I'm not sure baseball fans embrace that kind of change."

It is a beautiful park. Like I said yesterday, Miami has NEVER been brick buildings and parks that "fit the neighborhood". Miami has always been about art decco and colorful. New and somewhat minimalist. When you see the monstrosity when a Marlin hits a home run, on video, you cringe... in person, you stare and say to yourself..."hmm..that seem sort of cool".

As have said before, I am thrilled that MLB has given up on the retro "Honus Wagner could have played here" look of the new parks. It's a different time now. Ballparks should be an expression of the city in which they are built. Miami is a shining example.

Imagine what L.A.'s new ballpark will look like if the football stadium plan falls thru and new Dodger ownership and AEG build a baseball park in the L.A. Live District!!!!

I'd like to see if Lance would say the same things if he had to sit in the stands for 20-80 games at one of the "nostalgia" parks. I would bet he'd change his tune.

Seriously, what's wrong with Dodger Stadium? If the only problem with parks like Fenway Park,Wrigley Field,& Dodger Stadium is that your tushy isn't comfortable when you sit down........good grief. The Oakland A's have a bad stadium that desperately needs to be replaced, but that's the only stadium that needs to be replaced. Fenway Park,Wrigley Field,& Dodger Stadium are national treasures, like it or not. Fenway Park does not need to be razed just because it's bad on one's hemorrhoids.
