DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

but either way, it would be nice for the consumer to see some type of compensation.

seems these days, dish is promoting "Pay more for Less"

amen but not in charlies world and this will come back and bite charlies in the butt and could this lead to another lawsuit or appeal by rainbow to get the channel put back up :)

Losing WE, IFC (they have been showing great independent films like The Perfect Storm recently ), and Sundance aren't great losses. AMC would be the bigger loss. As a few have noted, I think a price contractor, or an extended freeze wouldn't be a bad idea. Of course, the individual cost per user isn't that high... but in the aggregate, it is substantial. So our savings isn't too big, but to Dish's bottom line, it is significant.
yep; and it is things like this, along with the plethora of horrible reality shows, that is making it difficult to continue justifying the $100/mo sat bill.
Are we going to start blaming Ergen for programming quality now as well?

If it were an HD channel, I might have watched it, as it was, it wasn't, so I never watched it... :D

This is probably why I didn't notice since I only watch HD movies.

The only channel I'll miss is AMC. I like Mad Men and The Walking DEAD. Of course with Netflix , I can watch past episodes when they come online.

Dropping Sundance doesn't bother me too much. I only watched it occasionally. WE I never watched. But I will be upset about IFC cause I do watch a quite a few movies on there. I wasn't thrilled that it's not in HD, or of the latest programming of things like Malcom in the Middle. Losing AMC before the final season of Breaking Bad is really going to P*ss me off. My son will be upset too. Breaking Bad is the only show he watches with me since Rescue Me ended.

Sundance used to be a good channel for independent & short films when it was part of the Showtime package. IFC also used to be good. Now they both increasingly show reality junk, syndicated commercial trash, & mainstream films readily available on USA, TNT, or FX. Today, neither channel is too different from Bravo or FX. I blame Dish for dropping them, but ultimately I won't miss either one since Rainbow/AMC destroyed the programming on the channels first.

I expect as much of the savings DISH gets from dropping this channel as was saved by dropping my RESN will be passed on to us - Bupkis.

yes a drop in rates would be great even if its $2. Customers who never watch will think dish is king. Some might just run to another provider to get what they need.

Not to stray off topic but we watched Rescue Me way back when it started, but quit when it was more sex crap than anything else.
