Will this "Soap Opera" NEVER end? Are The Red Sox Ready To Fire Their Manager?
Boston Red manager Bobby Valentine's day could end one of three ways
http://aol.sportingnews.com/mlb/sto...nager-bobby-valentine-fired-firing-job-status

The sad fact of the matter is that Bobby will not go out with a whimper. He is too much of a Drama Queen to pass this up.

I will say this Boston story is gripping. I was watching Dennis and Callahan on NESN this morning and they were talking about how Valentine is trying to ruin Aceves by having him throw a 143 pitches over 4 appearances. They also think that Valentine will last until Oct. 3 and then they will fire him later that day. Who knows? I was watching Mike Francesa on YES Network and he had Peter Gammons on. Mike asked him about getting Joe Mauer and Gammons said it was 25 million and a bad back. He also mentioned that they need a 1B and a left fielder, plus he said that the Red Sox have to decide to sign Ellsbury long term.

They got a tough road ahead of them.

If the Red Sox don't get some production from Lavarnway and Inglesis, if neither Kalish or Nava prove to be productive outfielders, if Lackey doesn't come back from his Tommy John surgery, and if Bard never returns to form as a set up man, then the quarter billion in payroll money they have to spend over the next five years won't be enough to fill all of their holes.

The Yankees are tied with Oakland and just one game ahead of Baltimore, and tonight, they are trailing Tampa Bay, who they only lead by two and a half at the moment. And they aren't all that far ahead of Detroit or the hapless Angels, either.

What a revoltin' development this is!

I thought the whole idea of a 2nd wild card was to ensure the Yankees would always be in the playoffs? :)

I have to say that watching the Red Sox train wreck is like watching Dodgers' train wreck last season. Hopefully the Sox will get someone in charge seriously "committed" to them winning again.

It's going to be a dilemma for the Dodgers when Gordon Dee gets healthy about who do you sit between Dee,Hanley Ramirez,& Luis Cruz. They'll also have a dilemma about what to do with Shane Victorino if,& when Carl Crawford is healthy next season.

How about a World Series match-up between the Washington Nationals & the Baltimore Orioles?

The congested BWI Parkway Series.

Poor for the networks of course. I haven't seen the Nielsens for this year, but in the pre-Strasburg era, the TV ratings for the Nationals were microscopic; something like 1/3 those of the 29th place team.

I thought last year that the Rangers-Cardinals World Series would be poor veiwing for the networks, but game 6 turned all of that around. While I understand the Nationals' logic for shutting down Strasburg, they definitely could have handled it differently. They compared on ESPN how the Nationals handling of Strasburg compared with how the Braves are handling Kris Medlin, who also is coming back from Tommy John surgery. The only difference between the two strategies is that the Nationals never expected to be this good & contend for the playoffs, while the Braves did expect to be in the playoffs,& the Braves planned accordingly.

How about the Baltimore Orioles?! WOW...what a story. Even more impressive than the Nationals to me. No offense to the Yankee fans, but I hope it's Baltimore winning the division and the Rays getting the Wildcard.

The Pirates had their own story brewing, but, they blew it (again).

I hope the Rangers can make it back to the WS just so they can hopefully win it this time and say they have a WS championship under their belt. They are the only DFW based team without a championship.

I have my snacks and favorite beverage ready for the big game on Sunday at 1:00 that everyone here in SE Mass is talking about.........Blue Jays at Red Sox!!!!

Brandon McCarthy of the A's took a solid line drive square to his head today off of the bat or Eric Aybar of the Angels. He appeared to be OK walking off but this is the scariest 3 minute video you'll ever see:

I'm proud of the way the Angels players and coaches applauded him as he walked off. This is too good a rivalry for bad things to happen.

Wow, that was scary. I sure hope he is okay.
