How does one know if 722 is dead

Typically a replacement is a refurb.There is an outside chance it could be new,

While you are correct, to my aging eyes the difference is night and day

I completely agree. We have a station here that has done 6, even 10 subchannels. Their PQ is not so hot.

Do you have an ehd? If so, do not hook it up till after your 722 is fully activated. Hooking it up before it's activated, it will not boot.

I do not, but good info to have.

Since it costs nothing, except for the cost of the hard drive, it's a good idea to have one and transfer any program that you want to keep to the ehd, That way, if the receiver dies, you haven't lost what you've recorded.

Yes it sure is,been down that oh no all our recordings are gone road at least 3 times.Now I have all the wife's favorites archived.
