Apple Announces new iPhone 5

Guessing somewhere between $9.99 and $19.99, and you can only get them from Apple

Yeah I expect that it is more than just a passive device. I wonder what all it has to D to A convert. I noted in the conference that the 8 pins are all digital, so all the analog outputs (audio/video) would have to be replicated by the dongle.

I don't really see much to be excited about. Other than LTE, there really isn't much that this has over the 4S. It's definitely a compelling reason to upgrade if you have the 3GS or 4, but I definitely don't see a reason to A: Jump from Android phones with similar specs (which there are TONS of at lower prices) or B: Break contract to upgrade if you have a 4S. Still, I'm sure it'll sell millions and people will waste their day standing in line in order to get one and Apple's stock price will go up even more and everyone will be happy.

if anything I think the 4s will remain a strong seller.

Ouch. $29 was higher than I was expecting. Does the iPhone 5 come with one?

Just read that Video is not supported with the adapter.

I will update every 2-3 years.
I think we will only see small increment increase in features and hardware change on the iPhone.
With the size of the iPad new features could be more likely.

From my perspective, this is the phone that should have been released last year (ignoring the new and probably impossible to duplicate connector).

I'm glad that Apple has finally caved to the fact that screens should be 16:9. It took them way too long to admit it.

has the iphone rate plans changed? i just checked on apple.com for verizon and there appears to be a difference than my current simply everything plan.

go to verizon and research family share
verizon has gotten rid of unlimited data as an option
its for all phones not just iphone

If you want to keep your unlimited data you will have to pay full retail for your next phone. :(

I am not eligible for anew phone till May but I would want to her real world experiences on battery life before especially with LTE on. My son just got a galaxy S3 and he hates the battery life with LTE>

I guess I am just not sure the changes are enough and I prefer battery life to LTE speed.
