Has anyone tested the timer recording feature when on a different satellite? I have yet to test this feature on te MICROHD using timer record.

Yes, the move and record feature has been tested. Make sure that the move can occur within the queue time so the signal is present when the recording is set to begin.

Is there something that you specifically want to know?

per my review ;)

I set up a couple timers to see how it handles them. One was on 97W and the other was on 125W. The one on 97W fired without a hitch. It recorded 5 minutes then shut off. The 2nd one, which went 4 minutes after the 1st one ended, first moved the dish to 125W then started recording. So in this case the 5 minute recording was 4 minutes 33 seconds. So if you need to have the dish move, make sure to set it a couple minutes earlier so it can move there

Yes, thanks. So, is there a rule of thumb (so to speak...) that I should use for a " cushion" to ensure always recording the beginning to the end of a program?

If you are using a Diseqc or USALS motor, remember that the dish will move at different speeds depending on the polarity of the signal you are looking for, either 13(V) or 17(H) volts will supplying the motor. The V signals will move the dish much slower. Iceberg's recommended 2 minutes should allow enough time for even the slowest motors to traverse the entire arc when trying to do a timed recording of a V polarity signal. If your dish doesn't travel from 30W to 129W like mine does, you may want to adjust the time accordingly.

I use a SG2100 motor with a 76CM Winegard and using a V signal, it takes just over a 75 seconds to move from 30W to 123W in very cold weather. If your dish is a 1.2m, it will take longer.
