Dish HD vs Disney (DISH sort of won...)

Notre Dame already has their own individual college network. It's called NBC or something like that.

"Dish's Cullen said a move to a sports tier would have saved the company a load of money. But ESPN argues Classic wasn’t so narrowly consumed, presenting data showing that in 2010, 1.6 million viewers were watching the network for at least six minutes a month."

Wow! Six minutes a month is a very low bar to hit!

I think they were trying to show that more than 10% of Dish users tuned in to ESPN Classic at least once a month.

Doesn't say 6 minutes at a time. Could easily aggregate that over channel surfing and accidental tuning.

A much better measure would be people who tuned at least 30 min in a single sitting.

As they show, only like 14 people cancelled when they moved it to a higher tier later, swapping with ESPNU. Looks more like 0.0001% of Dish customers cared that much about having ESPN Classic.

I actually like ESPN Classic (or Classic Sports Network that is used to be). The only sports I watch are KC Chiefs games and the occasional StL Blues game but I actually used to watch Classic. A lot more frequently than I ever watch ESPN. Since they moved it to whatever tier they moved it to, I don't get to watch it at all (and I have AEP). Definitely wouldn't spend any extra $$ for it.

That's the point...... :)

EXACTLY! There are several channels I have that I watch, but if I had the choice of knocking off the channel to save $0.10 a month, I'd kill it. That's why sports kill me. They add WAY more then $0.10 a month, yet I'm stuck with them. The argument of people watching it 6 minutes a month is STUPID. Honestly, does anyone know of any channel they only watch for less than 30 minutes a month that they wouldn't be OK to be rid of?

In fact, I just looked. Out of my recurring timers, I only have 14 timers on 8 channels that are "cable" channels (i.e. non broadcast networks).* Of those, I really only consider 4 of those channels "must" haves, i.e. I'm willing to pay fair amounts of money to have them.

* - as an aside, the only reason I have AT250 is because my roommate wants it. Otherwise, I'd probably have the Welcome Pack, if not off Dish completely. I used to watch more, but due to the crapification of niche channels like Travel, History, The Learning Channel/"TLC", Sci-Fi/"Syfy", and TechTV/"G4"/"The Esquire Network", fewer and few channels are worth watching and just have turned into reality "pretty/rich people whining"/"make fun of white trash/hillbillies" garbage.

I just want the HD feeds back.

Yeah agree! These networks have gotten to greedy and they are over pricing all the providers I hope that the jury can see this. It's way over due and it's time someone put their foot down.

As was mentioned last week, I dont see AutoHop being a factor. DISH is ESPN's 2nd largest distribution, if DISNEY removed its channels from DISH they would be losing a major major chunk of their revenue which would hurt them probably more then it would hurt DISH.
