What is one feature you wish the hopper had? Mine would be the ability to go back to the beginning of a show if you tune in late. Wanted to watch a show today and 10 mins was left and couldn't go back.

Not trying to start an argument since that would certainly be nice, however the machine would need to be recording every channel to make this happen.

#1 On my list would be header/tail recording when two programs are recorded back to back on the same channel.

#2 EHD access between Hoppers.

List option for recordings management.

Posted Using The New SatelliteGuys Reader App!

I want to not be dropped back to the main recordings menu when I finish or stop an EHD recording. It should return to the menu from which it was invoked.

Okay, this is thinking WAY out of the box and into the future, but I envision having a Surface-like coffee table in my living room where I can look down and have 8-10 mini screens of different channels, and then send a show to the TV with a big swipe (like they do in Hawaii 5-0 and NCIS). Crazy, huh?

-Remote Control app for Android/iOS, which includes keyboard/mouse functionality, in addition to all standard remote functions.

Like both of those, but my overriding #1 would be to make the existing trick play functions work consistently, and on ALL channels, including the Sirius Radio channels. By that I mean...

  • Skip Forward would always skip the same amount.
  • Skip Back would skip back the same amount of time.
  • Skipping Back would actually "stick" where it went back to, instead of playing for a few seconds and automatically skipping back to live
  • Add back the capability to Skip Back, or Rewind on the Sirius channels. It will usually work to pause, play, and occasionally skip forward/ff...but skip back/rewind rarely work on those channels.

That's really just a bug fix request.

If someone comes from cable, this might be a feature that they're used to and like - it does exist on many cable providers. On the cable company's system, they DO record many channels (typically the popular ones) all the time and you can rewind back to the beginning. It's along the same lines as a network DVR.

Very true...but trick play options that work properly are "Features I wish the Hopper had". (sounds kinda like the thread title, huh? ;))

Since its been consistently overlooked in recent updates amid the eye-candy redesigns of various menu/dialog screens, maybe seeing it listed in a feature discussion might jog their memory! :up

(I know...wishful thinking. LOL)

I've mentioned this before many times, but I would love to see a glitzier way to see what movies are currently on TV, with full box art and better descriptions. I know this is eye-candy, but I like eye-candy. Since the Hopper is already hooked up to the Internet, you would think this would be fairly easy to implement.

I agree. I have always said that they should concentrate on fixing the existing features before adding any new ones.

Maybe it's a patent violation but I'd like to have a D* type Fast Fwd where the recording backs up a variable amount, depending on the FF speed, so that reaction time for stopping FF is accounted for.
