America's Got Talent: Season 8

That act with the guy suspended in the air by a pole is totally staged.

Some talent show.

Of course it was a trick, but it was a darn good one. The guy came out on stage as a mystic swami (not sure what else to call it) and then, while being booed and buzzed, nailed a trick that nobody was expecting. Obviously, his being lame (unable walk) was a cover for the contraption being concealed under his robe, and the mini pyrotechnics at the end was to conceal his collapsing the device. However, it was brilliant because nobody was expecting it...they were booing his making those god awful trace moans.

Obviously, he won't have the element of surprise working for him next time, but who knows? He may have some other good tricks up his sleeves. Then again, he could really suck.

I thought it was one of the better premieres. Acts were pretty good. Glad they didn't show too many horrid ones. Can't believe they're bringing One Hit Wonder back.

That song was so annoying it's stuck in my head...B-double-O-T-Y. I'll be glad when they get buzzed. I sure hope Special Head has another act in his repertoire because it's special the 1st time, not so special the 2nd time, and downright hateful the 3rd time...just ask Quick Change.

Other than Special Head (what a name, huh?) there weren't any jaw-dropping acts...and his act will quickly get old if he does the same thing. But I agree they didn't show very many of the awful acts during the premiere - so not a bad show. Personally, I would love to see Clownvis, the King of Clowns, audition again this year. :)

Big guy sings like an opera chick and people love it. IMO, guys with sticks shouldn't sing like chicks...although the proposal was kinda cute; a dance and couples gymnastics act wasn't bad; okay, I'm getting sick of the Miami Dancers who have now been on the show for 3-straight years...however, the two kid acts were really good; the Mariachi Rappers were funnily silly; Pistol Packin' Paula needs to be shot and pistol whipped; the sword-swallower was sickly interesting (9-swords); the $1 bill magician wasn't bad; the ventriloquist was okay; the gay guy was a marginally okay singer; the escape artist was entertaining; J.C. Starbright was a dim-wit was well as all the other slug acts; unlike last year, I would much rather see a guy pole climbing than pole dancing; singer at the end wasn't very good IMO.

All-in-all not a bad show. They've definitely cut down on the number of stinker acts they're broadcasting this year.

S8.E3: Tuesday, 18 June 2013 (8:00 PM ET)

"Hopefuls perform for the judges." Let's see...they were in New York, Los Angeles & San Antonio during episode one (2-hour) and they we in San Antonio and New Orleans during episode two (another 2-hour show), but I have no idea where they'll tonight during this normail 1-hour show.

Don't forget to rate this episode over at IMDb.com: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0759364/episodes?season=8&ref_=tt_eps_sn_8

Strength Group was boring as were the Karate kid-kickers who were breaking balsa wood; the 5-year old gymnast was cute...but come on the kid looks like a rag doll being tossed around; the dance'ish robotic guy was very entertaining; the big girl singer was okay (not great IMO); Sprice (what kind of name is that) reminds me of that domino guy from Minnesota a couple years ago, eh; the Chinese unicycle gal was fantastic!; the Military Spouses Choir was on par with many good glee clubs.

So far this season, I'm glad I watch delayed. I'm down to less than 15 minutes/hour of actual watching and haven't seen anything yet that makes me want to see more. For me, this show has run its course.

I've always fast-forwarded through all the human interest and judge dynamics crapola - it takes only 20-minutes to watch an hour-long show. 2-3 years ago they kept showing segments with Howie playing practical jokes on Piers...couldn't hit the skil-forward key fast enough.
