Strange HWS behaviour

Just recently replaced my old Hopper with the new HWS. I'm having a strange problem that I can't figure out. I'm trying to record 3 programs. Only 1 is actually recording. When I press "record" for each of the other 2, I am taken to the conflict resolution screen where there are NO conflicts.

The status screen shows 1 program recording. The 2nd program just says "watching" and the 3rd shows "watching PIP". I'm not using PIP - can't get out of it no matter what I try.

So - out of 3 tuners, I can only record 1 picture.

Anyone experience this or have any ideas?

Thanks much!

I have version 311. I first tried the red button, then unplugging. Nothing changed.

Strange thing - all 3 programs were back to back episodes of the same 3 programs. At the top of e hour, when the next 3 programs were set to record, everything was fine. All 3 were then recording properly.

Definitely had me stumped.

Have you seen any messages about signal loss?

You are getting the conflict screen because the Hopper thinks you are trying to record on same tuner as first recording for the second and third. When status screen comes up, select one of the other tuners/room from the same screen. Change to desired channel and start recording. PIP is just another tuner available for PIP if used, and nothing new.

You may also have recording defaults set to record a couple minutes early and run a couple minutes late. When that happens, you have overlap recordings of different shows briefing needing more tuners.

He's not talking about timer recordings...rather recording on the fly.

Thanks - as far as I know, this is the one and only time this has happened so I'm hoping it was just an isolated anomaly. Other than that, I'm really enjoying the new Hopper :)

I think I spoke too soon.

This recurring problem is occurring as I type, so I hope I can explain it clearly:

I am trying to record "the first 48" on the Biography channel (119)

I tried to select the 10pm episode at about 945pm using the Program Guide. I was then taken to the "conflict resolution" screen that showed nothing but one line of programming on a completely different channel - nothing to do with what I was trying to record.

After several tries, I finally gave up (tried rebooting too).

At 10pm, the program began recording, even though the Program Guide doesn't indicate this to be true. The status screen shows "watching and recording" but the Program Guide shows nothing.

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm losing my marbles or what????
