Attention GEOSATpro HDVR1200 owners. Getting close to FTA support release!

Received a report of the HDVR1200 locking-up after 30 minutes on 58w NHK English channel, but cannot replicate. Any feedback on channel lock-ups or blind or TP scan lock-ups would be appreciated!

Narrowed down the reported blind scanning lock-up. The receiver will stop at the completion of a blind scan if the dish is not aligned or the coax is disconnected and all TPs were deleted before blind scanning, the receiver stops at 100% when no transponders are found. Power cycling the STB stops the scan process and returns to either previous channel viewed or the main menu.

Will be an easy fix and shouldn't affect many users as we usually wouldn't delete all transponders if the dish was not yet aimed or perform a blind scan with the coax cable disconnected.... :D

Will modify the scan routine to exit to previous menu if no transponders are logged.

.ssu

i can not figure out how to load this file using the usb port.
do i have to change the .ssu extension?
i am using winrar to extract the file.
the receiver can't see the file with this .ssu extension to load file.

No don't change the extension, .ssu is what the receiver is looking for. Perhaps clear your USB Flash drive and reload with your computer and try again.

I assume your are going to software tools and then Update via USB.

my mistake

wrong receiver. i was so excited to see a new file i didn't notice HDVR in the title.
i have the micro and expected the file to be out soon was here.

Is there a manual yet for FTA use of this model? When is the new release expected?
I just received my unit. The Glorystar Install Guide that came with it says to download latest HDVR1200 owners manual at www.geosatpro.com/manuals however, when I go there I find nothing for this unit.

It did freeze up on me once, don't know why, or remember what I was doing, but power cycling fixed it. I am still using whatever firmware came with it. I have not yet found where I can see what firmware version is installed.

Okay, I found the menu for software update/backup.
Backed up the factory, and installed the FTA Beta. That all went well.

1st question -- In the Menus the blue button will take you to the top line, or back from it. Once in the top line, is there any way to display a list to select from? Pressing 'OK' just drops you to the next level below.
You can scroll left and right, but if you have a motorized system it's going to try to move, and, you cannot see which is next, or previous... it'd be nice to have a pop-up list to choose from.
next -- After a blind scan, you are dropped out to a screen showing last channel. I'd prefer to have it remain at the scan results list.

I like it, picture is really good, blind scan is quick and seems very thorough.

I haven't really had much time with it yet. I'll try to get more, and add more comments when I can.

Thanks,

The Owners manual will be released with the FTA firmware release. We are very close, but finalizing a few items with combined Motor/Switch control and channel editor.

I have not yet found where I can see what firmware version is installed.
In the current firmware release the firmware information is displayed in: Menu>>> Installation>>> Information. In the earlier firmware releases, the information was available in: Menu>>> System Setting>>> i (information remote control key).

Will add to the suggestions list.

Just tried adding a sat, 37.6ku then tried to blind scan it.
Unit froze, no response to any key. pulled the power.
powered it back up, selected that sat again, and started blind scan.
it started "moving dish", then started scan, looked good, got to 96% and it stopped.
I waited, and waited, but no indication that it was still working, still reading 96%....
....waited, finally i tried a key press, no response to any key presses, frozen.

Pull power and re-connect...
select 30w sat and blind scan, works just fine.
can it work without a TP defined? my X2 receiver appears nearly identical to this one, and it'll blind scan an empty sat.

Added a sat, 114.9 Ku, no transponders.
Started a blind scan, and it just sits at 00%, and does not respond to any key press.

pulled power plug, then re-insert, and it powers up to the last channel viewed.

re-select the same sat as above and start blind scan, it proceeded just fine!

edited to add, I just did the exact same thing with another sat(111.1 Ku), and got exact same results.

Bumping this up, as it still has this same "problem"...either when adding a sat with no transponders defined, or, after deleting all defined transponders.
Power cycling the unit will get it to work again, so it should be a fairly easy "fix" in the new firmware release!

When released will the FTA firmware be provided the normal way via sat update?

If you default your hdvr1200 and can use FTA now just select Hobbyist (Not glorystar) mode :)

My guess would be yes no reason for two firmwares. However Eugene has told me several times this is a Glorystar box that can do fta but its geared towards glorystar.
