According to Sports Business Daily, Dish Network has agreed to carry the upcoming SEC Network at launch.

Distributors in SEC country can expect to pay a rate of $1.30 to carry the soon-to-be-launched SEC Network, according to several sources with knowledge of the rate card.

That fee, paid on a monthly per-subscriber basis, is what cable and satellite companies within the SEC’s 11-state footprint would pay to ESPN, the owner of the SEC Network. Outside of SEC territory, the channel’s license fee drops to 25 cents.

Cable operators are certain to blanche at the network’s price tag, which is more expensive than other college conference channels like Big Ten Network and Pac-12 Networks.

But ESPN could have leverage as it negotiates with cable operators, as it appears to be on the cusp of landing a deal with one of the industry’s biggest distributors. Sources said that the country’s third-largest distributor, Dish Network, has agreed to carry the channel from its August launch. The deal has not been completed and is part of a bigger overall deal that it is negotiating with ESPN. Dish’s ESPN deal expired at the end of September, but the two worked out an extension, and they are still negotiating terms. Sources say SEC Network carriage is not a sticking point in these talks.

Interesting. Does jive with other rumors that the sticking point not about the carriage for any of this stuff, but rather the digital rights issues.

It ain't about the money, money, money . . . .

Good news for folks in the south. I just wish the PAC12 would get the 24/7 HD feed on the primary channel like the BIG10 has.

I am hearing a rumor its a done deal, with the issue now being finalizing the contract... a lot of red lining going back and forth as they finalize the contract. I am sure you can understand that both sides want no loopholes which can be used against them later on. :)

Stay Tuned!

Yes I will be watching it and better be in HD or should be. Let's hope the rest of ESPN stations in HD will be turned on Soon!! :D ;) :)

It turns on in August, plenty of time to get it done.... Now, if this is like the Big 10 Network and is available to west coasters as part of Multi-Sport I'm gonna like it. My neighbor who is from Arkansas is gonna love it!

Considering it doesn't turn on until August, I don't think an announcement has anything to do with a Wednesday uplink....

I think the poster was implying that news leaking to 'official' outlets on the SEC piece may be a harbinger of a green light for everything else.

I like the tiered pricing for subs based on their geography. Do other sports networks do this? I would assume so, as regular RSN prices would be too high to include them all in a multi-sports pack.

I'll be honest, I'm more excited about this than the potential returen of the other channels. I was going to have to think long and hard about my tailgate setup for the fall if we didn't get SEC Network on Dish.
