Hopper Upgrades

Hello,

I'm currently out of contract and thinking about upgrading to the Hopper with Sling and a Joey. I have a leased VIP922 and VIP211K. My 922 just bite the dust. It keeps shutting down after 15 minutes of use; no lights on the front panel and there's a loud humming sound coming from the receiver. What are my options, pricing, etc? Please me PM me when you get a chance.

Thanks!

I am considering upgrading to the Hopper/Joey setup from our current setuo. We have 2 vip-722's and a plug in Sling running a total of 5 tv's. It appears that the current Hopper supports a total of 4 screens.

Questions:
1. Does anyone know if the Virtual Joey app will still have the 4 screen limit?
2. Should I wait till the Super Joey is released?
3. Can I transfer recorded shows from the 722 to the hopper via an external drive?

Thanks for any and all advice.

1. Im pretty sure VJ has a limit of one per account but I'm not certain.

2. Super Joey gives you two more tuners

3. Yes

Thanks, to clarify: is the total number of simultaneous screens 4 regardless of joey/virtual joey? will hopper + 3 joeys + vj = 5 screens or is there a hard 4 screen limit?

Not sure but I believe if you try to link any more than 4 joeys you get a pop up regarding a limit of 4. I would assume that would remain the same, but this is just my assumption.

Hi, I'm interested in upgrading my current 211k + 211 setup to a Hopper and changing my programming package. If a DIRT member could PM me I'd appreciate it! Thank you! :D

I am too. My wife has dropped her opposition as of last night.

Currently we have two leased 612s (one of which appears to be on it's last legs), and an owned 722. I actually think a single HwS would work for us, along with 3 Joeys. I'd like to make one of the Joeys' a Super Joey. Maybe I can get in on a SJ before formal release. :D To keep the same number of sat tuners, and get two OTA tuners, I'd have to go with two Hoppers, darn it. But I don't have two cables to any location (but one where the Hopper has to go), and I don't really want the added $5/mo anyhow. And I really really wish the SJ had bluetooth capability!

It was the eye of newt that put you over the [strike]edge[/strike] top!

Actually it was me explaining what I meant by "whole home". And our MBR 612 trying to give up the ghost ;) She now denies she ever told me she was opposed to the new Hopper GUI. I'm currently thinking of keeping my owned 722 unactivated, just in case. It's residual value in 2014 is probably not much. Worth more to me as insurance against a Hopper failure.

You'll have to rewire to get the ViP722 to work, though. <<<WRONG. See below posts. Not "supposed" to work thru a node, but it does.

"...She now denies she ever..."

I swear it's in their genes!

Edited by navychop to correct bad info.

I thought somebody here already plugged a dual tuner receiver into a node host port and it worked. Did I dream that? :(

No. You are correct. When I woke up this morning I remembered that and came here to correct my post. You beat me to it.
