Gotham

I watched Gotham last night and it was another awesome episode. Every episode so far has been great and has not let me down yet. I just wish I could watch more of it sooner.

With this week I will be two episodes behind. If I can make time to catch last week of off PTAT ill keep watching. Otherwise, nah.

I felt that last night's ep went off the rails, slightly. Don't know why, just seemed like most of the actors suddenly forgot how to act. Poor director, perhaps.

I would disagree. I enjoyed this episode. I think it provided a way to setup future episodes. Corruption in Wayne Enterprises; Maroni now has a wedge issue against Gordon; Penguin elevates his position, somewhat. And Bruce and Alfred start to get serious. Plus, a cameo with Selena, although not one that adds much.

I think we are going to see lots of moral conflict and challenges for Gordon as he tries to clean up the city, but has to deal with people against him.

I watched it last night and thought it was another great episode. It's starting to bring on more comic traits, like the super human strength.

Next Episode: S01, E06

"Spirit of the Goat":
Bullock is faced with traumatic memories of a similar case from the past when a killer targets the first-born of the city's elite.

S~

I am really staring to see why the villains in Batman had, at the very least, respect for Commissioner Gordon.
This is one of the few series I look forward to every week. Now that Boardwalk Empire's disappointing 5th season is over, and Person of Interest has gone off the rails, I think Gotham has become my favorite series.

I was disappointed with the somewhat throw-away murder plot. There's a lot more character development/backgrounds that would have better to address.

Wasn't the plot to show more of how corrupted Gotham is and how certain citizens are trying to help fix the city on their own. They are almost like vigilantes themselves, just not doing it in the correct way. This episode's meaning was similar to the one with the balloons, another citizen trying to correct Gotham in the wrong way.

Though I'm generally not a big fan of procedurals, I agree with this assessment. Here you have even a seemingly respectable psychotherapist to the rich and famous taking matters into her own hands. And who knows, she may emerge as a super villain of sorts.

I would call this episode a lot of things, but "throw away" is not one of them. It goes to character development and moves the season story arc along while at the same time presenting a self-contained story. IMHO a perfect episode. Great for the person coming in for the first time or the person who has followed the show from the beginning.

I agree. This was an excellent episode. I loved how it gave us background on Gordon's partner, solved a crime, and moved the storyline about Cobblepot forward. I love this show. Can't wait to see how it develops.

The best part about this show is that it is not a crime solving of the week show. Although there are crimes happening and being solved all the time, there is a lot of background/comic myth building going on. They are doing a nice job of having the little things being solved while the bigger issues build in the background.

Agreed. They are doing an incredible job creating what is Gotham - and doing it in a way that satisfies fans who come to the show with the comic myth in place - from generations of familiarity with the Batman world. Very few tv shows could pull that off.

The only thing messing with my mind is the Dr Nygma character. Yes, I know he will become the Riddler, but the problem is he reminds me way too much of the guy who played Scarecrow in the Dark Knight trilogy. Same glasses, similar look. Not a big deal, but it confuses me. :)
