New Features in the latest Hopper release(S515)!

2. A right arrow in the guide shows a -program can also be watched "On Demand" by pressing Select and choosing On Demand, you can download the program to watch later. To me, the search button is more use full. It gives you the option of recording a future view or downloading it On Demand. The right arrow choice only lets you download On Demand, which may charge for the program.

Protect feature still doesn't show a P for protect on the show and if you try to delete it , it doesn't say to put in your pass word to enable the deletion. It just deletes it .

Here is some more detailed info on the new features on the Hopper. :)

Nice blog Scott, the first post on this thread looks like a pretty blog too and Dish has not fixed it:

Great Details on the Hopper indeed! Ironic they are coming to CES in Vegas where they cant even fix the guide in a reasonable amount of time.

Have you encountered it offering an event that costs money ? Something tells me they've filtered the results to only show "free" ones, either always free or from channels you are subscribed to (and therefore free to you).

This part,
Have you ever found something you want to watch, but it’s already halfway over? Now, rather than joining a show or movie that’s already started, Hopper gives you the option to watch from the beginning, if the title is available on demand.
is tricky. If the event is really in the "on demand" section -- that is, what everyone outside of Dish understand "on demand" to mean -- it's great. To Dish though, they consider DVR'ing a program and later watching it as "on demand". Problem is, it may not get recorded until later that evening (morning) at 2:30am, days later, etc when it replays.

Your giving Dish grief for ad copy that is actually underselling a feature? The ad copy only refers to the on demand portion of the functionality. What is easy to understand in 100 words or less.

The on screen prompts are accurate and pretty easy to follow for all but the most dense.

Let me spell out the exact wording, that is shown on the TV screen:

Want to watch it from the beginning? Press SELECT to see other showings.

The on-screen notification telling people about the feature read similarly. Without re-typing all of it, the key part was "or if there's another upcoming airing".

When an "other showing" or "upcoming airing" is an hour later, 21 hours later, two days later, or whenever, is that what most people have in mind when they think, "cool, I can see the first 5-10 minutes that I just missed" ?

Is this the notification Hall?

I guess I'm not most people. When I read that, I understood it as written - a way to record a future airing, so that I can catch the part I missed.

For instant gratification, there is the on-demand choice, if available.

Seems overlapping timers on the same channel still requires more than one tuner to be used, which is completely and utterly pitiful in this day and age.

I could see that having something to do with the OTA start early/end late crap too. Being their OTA module has only one tuner. (which is also pitiful) If they can't make the thing work like every other DVR in the world does with overlapping timers on a single channel/tuner, then it should be apparent that having that situation arise in regards to the OTA module would be a big issue.

So, until they hire some competant code monkeys or the current ones pull their heads out of their arses and fix the first problem, the second one most likely can't be fixed. At least not without causing some even worse behaviour.

With the feature that allows you to "binge watch" it does not work for certain shows. They need to still offer it for shows that does not have season and episode numbers in the information.

Someone know if this is new?

When you go into the On Demand menu, the first box in each row is "see all...". In the past, you had to scroll way to the right to get that choice.

I swear we've been through this before, but... is it documented that it's SUPPOSED to do that? For some reason, I thought it was only supposed to protect the show from being reaped by the disk space reclaimer, which was all it ever did on the 622.
