Hi guys,
Anyone with a Roku 3 ?
I believe the remote it comes with is RF ... is there a way to have it do IR instead ?
I'd like to use my URC remote with it instead.

There are also lots of Roku apps for your smart phone to let you use your phone to control your Roku 3.

I am waiting for the new Roku 4K which is supposed to be announced next week. :D

The new Amazon Fire is $99.
I'd imagine the price will be closer to the Fire.
On that does 4K ?
You really think they won't push the price way up ?

You could be right, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it way up, unless others are debuting thiers as well.

Ok, I got the remote programmed and its working great ...

Question, while I am using the Roku3, obviously its streaming and using bandwidth.
Seeing there is No On Off button on them ... when does the streaming stop ? It can't stream continuously or your bandwidth would be gone in no time.

For example right now I have the roku on, but not watching anything ... the screensaver is on ... is it streaming ? I'm thinking not as I haven't choose anything yet to watch.

If I start watching something on it and then go to a different input, say my D*, does the streaming stop when I change inputs ?

Any ideas guys ?

The new Amazon Fire TV supports 4K at $99. Roku will probably be somewhere in the same ballpark when they announce their first 4K box.

It's not streaming anything when you are on the home screen. After about 10 minutes of no usage on the home screen or when the video you were watching has ended the Roku will go into a sleep mode with a screen saver.

There are a couple caveats to this. If you are watching something like live ESPN on the Roku there is no end to the video. It will just keep playing if you fall asleep or change inputs. You have to hit the home button to stop the stream. Some services like Netflix and Amazon automatically play the next episode when you are watching a TV series too.

Changing inputs does nothing but if you are on the Roku's input and you aren't seeing video you aren't streaming anything.

Ok, so as long as I go to the Home screen it stops streaming, thats good to know.

And this was a non feature for me at first, until I used it a time or two while the wife was asleep. It is one of the best things about the box IMO

It's also pretty nice when you're running on the elliptical trainer and want to watch something without the noise from the equipment making it hard to hear without turning up the volume a significant amount. I'll run a full "hour" episode, which is a bit over 40 minutes since no commercials, and get through a lot of series that I don't have time for otherwise.

OK, supposivly the Roku (all models I guess) are suppose to be able to get the NFL ST ....
Any ideas how to go about this ?

I currently have the ST already, was looking to see if there was a ST channel on the Roku store, found nothing.

On D*'s webpage they said it was available and it was like $49.

If you already sub to the Ticket, is there another charge ?

If I can work this on the Roku, it would be nice to be able to do, if not, I still have the other options ... the regular ways to watch the ST.

I think that I just downloaded it from the Roku site and had to use my Directv sign in and password. I have it on the Roku in case bad weather kills my satellite signal.

It wouldn't let me log in yesterday, but we will try again when Games are starting.
You would think you could log in ANYTIME on the Roku, you can on the computer.
