Ordered an Outlaw Model 5000

Kinda oddball one from the Outlaw family released in early 2015, but Audioholics did a real indepth power test with good gear, and it actually puts out around 179wpc 2 channels driven. In a dynamic power test which is a good idea of how it handles music, etc, it showed about 3db of headroom.

When I started planning my 4K move I sold my non HDCP 2.2 preamp and much larger Outlaw amp and have just been using the Denon 4520CI which was at AC4L new for $900.

I am going to run the 7ii's and the 64ii off the 5000, and then once the UHD disc players are coming out I am gonna grab a Denon 4200 as my preamp since it is the 2015 model with XT32 platinum and HDCP 2.2, etc...

The Model 5000 is a steal at $600, and they really went after Emotiva with this one. It's basically (not trying to insult ATI here, just laziness on my part) a 2 channel version of their ATI made Model 7x125 ($999). Designed by them and built in China instead of the US, which of course allows the savings. I was close to getting a 7125, but I do not need a 7 channel amp so I chose to save the $$$.

The Model 5000 is our new high performance and affordable 5-channel amplifier. Rated at 5 x 120 watts into 8 ohms or 5 x 180 watts into 4 ohms (all channels driven), the 5000 is ideal for those who have moderate size living areas and desire a 5-channel home theater. Among the 5000 features:

- A differential-sensing RCA input circuit designed to reject input hum.
-Independent power supply rectification for each of the 5 channels, to ensure excellent isolation.
-Two pairs of 150-watt Toshiba bi-polar output transistors per channel for fail-safe reliability.
-Separate output protection relays for each channel, designed to disengage the speaker from the amp in the unlikely case of a short, or excessive DC offset.
-A modular audio channel design to ensure each audio signal is isolated from the other channels, from input all the way to output.

It has 4 discrete output devices per channel, decent capacitance, 30 day return, 5 yr warranty and a 0.9 kva toroidal transformer.

Seems well built, and Id expect nothing less from them. It'll be a bit until I get to try it out, have to do some swapping and get the tv installed late next week.

Got it in. Freaking beast, just like the 7125. Fits nicely into the stand, going to run XT32 and then watch a couple of flicks on the new tv.

Make sure the Denon will have 2.0a hdmi as this is needed for HDR. If it does not more than likely will updated via firmware update.

IIRC, the X200's were supposed to get it via FW update but I have not kept up. Will worry about that hurdle when players show up

For maximum video enjoyment, the AVR-X4200W features advanced video signal processing that can transcode and upscale analog SD and analog and digital HD video to full 4K Ultra HD video specification, along with HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 compatibility on all 8 HDMI inputs and the 3 HDMI outputs.

4200W will be perfect as a preamp once the players launch. I get Audyssey Platinum and UHD compatibility. Hopefully itll drop down from $1299 in a few months.

Listened to Dark of the Moon Bayformers Thu night at +1.0 volume on the Denon, amp got warm but it sounded great.

Uncle and Dad are coming over tonight for Lynyrd Skynyrd and Stones blu-ray concerts.
