Should I get 4K Joeys instead of 2.0's?

Hello all,
First off thanks for all the help and the advice over all the years. So I have an install scheduled for Saturday with a Hopper 3 and 3 Joey 2.0's I believe. I don't currently have any 4K TV's yet. I was just wondering if the speed and processing power difference is enough between the 4K Joeys and the 2.0 Joeys to make it worth just getting the 4k Joeys off the bat instead. Also how is the size footprint between the two. I can't find a picture of the 2.0's but have seen the 4K Joeys and it looks super small, flat and light.
Thanks!

There is really no need to spend $150 extra for the little bit of extra speed they add. If you wanted to see the difference I would get 1 4K Joey, but the 2.0s will be good for the rest.

I think it's personal preference. I haven't seen the Joey 2 and 4k Joey side by side so I don't know how much faster the 4k is. I do know that the Joey 2 is much faster than the Joey 1 I had and I'm very happy with it. As for size, the 4k looks to be much thinner and the Joey 2 is the same size as the Joey 1.

I've notice that some here are willing to pay the extra $50 hoping it's much faster and for the PIP abilities.

Great thanks, I am going to take a wild guess and say that the 2.0 Joeys are faster than the 1.0 Joeys? Also are they the same size as the 4k Joeys? I can't find a picture of them anywhere.

If you have a Joey 1 now then you already know the size of the Joey 2. They're identical.

Thanks Scherrman. I sent that reply right as your posted. So 4K Joeys have PIP???? I would be for sure interested in that. That might change my mind.

Okay, so I did my own homework for once and read that the 4k Joey does have PIP.... BUT this is huge... will it eventually support the "Sports Bar" mode on it's own when it launches? Not sure if this question has been answered before.

Also, one more question about the 4K Joey Picture in a Picture, does it work like the Hopper with sling? Traditional little or big PIP box you can move around, or, the side by side mode where the two pictures are the same size?
Thanks again for the help, this will help me make up my mind.

Excellent, thanks again for the info. I will wait until everything is out to upgrade to the 4K Joeys and stick with the 2.0's for the time being.

I have both. The Joey 2 is more than adequate, but the 4K is blazingly fast - worth it IMO for any regular use/high interaction/surfing TV. PIP will just make it that much better.

For a Kid's room, guest room, or a set it and forget TV, Joey 2 is fine - no one will complain.

I do not have a 4k TV yet but opted to get the 4k joey because the 50.00 charge was waived because of being a 20 year customer. Maybe you can get the same deal and save 50.00.

Maybe I am seeing things.
I got a 121 inch projector.
So I tried some tests.
The Hopper 3 and Joey 4K have a better picture. The Joey 2.0 seemed more like the old Hopper.
I think it has to do with the new Chip Set, "better, faster smarter"
This makes the extra $50 I paid for the Joey 4K well worth it, I think, plus it will work in the future with more 4K content is out.
More Future Proof?
Anyone else test the picture quality.

4K Joey is worth the upgrade well worth the $50 it's almost as fast as the hopper 3

I agree 10000% I just had my install. Got both 4k Joeys and Joey 2.0...the 4K are noticeably faster. The 2.0s aren't painfully slow like the original Joeys were, but you do notice a delay from when you press buttons to when something happens.

My recommendation is if you need a joey for a small kid's room or a rarely used TV, get the 2.0. If it's a room you watch TV in daily, get the 4K.

Are the Joey 2.0s coming with the 52.0 remote and the 4K Joeys with the older 40.0 remote? Has there been any word on when the 4K Joeys will come with the newer remotes? I would prefer the 52.0 remotes.

I don't know if there are any plans for the 4K Joey to come with different remotes. The 4K Joey was ready before the new remotes were which is why they come with the 40.0 remotes.

The 40.0 is a better remote IMO. I am not a fan of the press or press-and-hold dual function keys.

Gee, I paid $50 for my 4K Joey and had to add DHPP back on my account to get the free Tech Visit. I can't complain too loudly as this is the best video delivery system available in the home, but it does point out my lack of negotiating skills. I'll be a Dish Network subscriber for 20 years in June; I guess I think I've saved enough over cable for the last 20 years that I don't think to ask for more...

Anyway, after seeing the 4K Joey at last year's CES, I wanted one. It's so teeny that it and my AppleTV are sitting on top of my Panasonic Blu-Ray player and there's still more room for more goodies:
