Carbon UI Suggestions Thread

Reintroduce the feature of having the daily/nightly updates at whatever time you want it to update. I hate the mandatory 1 AM time for the updates as I stay up very late and watch TV at that time and don't to stop watching my shows just to do a update.

Be glad you aren't trying to watch on a WJ - using Carbon203 it "updates" without a Y/N option, just abrupt black screen, then 25 min later it does it again because it loses Moca when the H2 does it's update. Will be relocating my H3 install so that the WJ is in the LR, don't watch late night tv there.

My HWS did the same thing most nights - no warning whatsoever. I'm hoping the H3 won't do the same but the jury is still out...

Maybe there is something I've missed but if not, I'm not sure I like the way folders are handled. With the previous Hoppers, I could never quite decide if I wanted to use folders or be able to see all my recordings, grouped by programs. Back then, I could create folders, add recordings to them and then easily disable the folders and see everything again. There doesn't seem to be any way to do that on the H3. Now that I've created custom folders and added everything to them, I'm not sure I like it. But it appears that going back would be a real pain. Is there a way around this?

Using auto-prepare for recordings marks each one as already watched on the DVR. Would be nice if this didn't occur.

Its there, after you select your search result you'll see a selection of "record when availible"

I'm not seeing the option for seek and record. I have HWS and Carbon u203. I search for something, I select it and it brings up the episodes. I select an Episode and the only options are record this or record series. What am I missing? If I go the the Summary tab, I only have the option to record series.

I'd like to see a channel guide that can be sorted alphabetically or in a custom order.

I'd like PIP to remember that I like the PIP box to be in the bottom right corner instead of always appearing in the top right.

I'd like the Prime Time Anytime folder to not always display first in the recording list because I keep PTAT turned off.

I'd like on demand recordings to be mixed in with other recordings instead of being hidden in a rentals folder that I forget about.

That's it. I like everything else.

I can answer that one, I found it by accident.

Go to the PIP screen, choose your box style, then scroll left (look at the very left icon labeled position grayed out). If you go there and press it it will move the PIP window to wherever you want it, It moves it in a sequence. I picked the bottom left corner as well, because that's where all these channels place their logos anyway.

Edit: It remembers it during a session, but I found that an H3 restart or the nightly update, seems to reset it to the top right.

I would love to see Dish add the option to see and edit the other hoppers timers. I have 2 Hoppers and It would be a nice feature. Or even an option to create a timer on another hopper from the guide.

Thanks for the tip Bookworm. Yes, I found the same thing. It resets to top right corner the next day.

That's why I upgraded to H3, much simpler to have everything on one Hopper. Tried the Carbon (manual install of 203) & found between Hoppers it was very slow & was showing a black screen at first, once connected it seemed to work OK. I was still getting nightly update reminders, so far with New H3/J2 I'm not getting the interruptions so either the new equip makes a difference or there's something different in the software.

One more year, Then I'll do the upgrade.
But for now, I don't want to do one box for the whole home.
I like that I have 3 seperate Receivers 2 Hoppers and a 211z.
And it cost less then the H3 for me until August 2017.
Sure I could have 16 tuners, But for the minor recording conflicts we have a year, I'd rather keep the $36 a year.

$2 less in fees for me, so no brainer, though if it goes down I don't have OTA & will have to resort to streaming for a few days. It's actually hard to adjust, keep finding myself wanting to switch to the recordings on the other Hopper :)

I'll do it eventually. But right now I'm hopping the new UI gets a little more profected.
It's Okay, and it's not slow, or really buggy, but it does have me question what we're they thinking on a few things.
