Thanks for all the input guys! I'll definitely call them if I decide to "move". I just was slightly worried because the website couldn't find any valid addresses in that area and was concerned that a rep I talked to on the phone would encounter the same problem.

what "valid address on the website" are you talking about?
I'm thoroughly confused
I think he's talking about where you can check your address to see if SV/Neighboring locals are available at you address on Directv. Com

I used to use that thing all the time, But it was never 100% accurite.

Since you seem to understand this stuff. Any ares that offer both Baltimore and DC /
no (I just went to the link. Put in Baltimore and it shows "none" DC only shows that most parts of the DC market will get Maryland PBS too

Only thing extra someone gets is in Page County, VA you get DC locals AND WHSV Harrisonberg, VA

OK........If I go here:

http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageIFnorail.jsp?assetId=P4880022#h:573.216

And I enter the address, which is: 118 2nd St Secretary MD 21664

It says "invalid address".
A. it worked for me (see pic)
B. thats only for distants...

using that zip gets you Salisbury locals AND Baltimore as Sig Viewed

Salisbury MD MD 21664 DORCHESTER WMAR 2 ABC Baltimore MD
Salisbury MD MD 21664 DORCHESTER WBAL 11 NBC Baltimore MD
Salisbury MD MD 21664 DORCHESTER WJZ 13 CBS Baltimore MD
Salisbury MD MD 21664 DORCHESTER MPT 22 PBS Baltimore MD
Salisbury MD MD 21664 DORCHESTER WUTB 24 MNT Baltimore MD
Salisbury MD MD 21664 DORCHESTER WBFF 45 FOX Baltimore MD
Salisbury MD MD 21664 DORCHESTER WNUV 54 CW Baltimore MD

Some areas (even non AT&T markets) are starting to use AT&Ts system to authenticate addresses and track accounts by address rather than person.

I've tried to find an area in Michigan that has significantly viewed, but haven't had any luck. I've tried all seven DMA's (Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids, Flint/Saginaw, Traverse City/Cadillac, Alpena, and Marquette) with the search tool with no success. Is there a chance I might find one searching by zip code, or is it more likely that no such area exists?

all you do is use one of the zips posted above....find an address that is legit and tweak it (like if its 820 87th AVE W...make it 822). Reason is if there is DIrectv already there a red flag goes up
The OP could always add an "A" to the friend's address..Or "#2"....Any character that would indicate a multi family dwelling

OK........If I go here:

This is really weird.
Here is a link to the Dorchester County, MD Recorder of Deeds featuring the address you gacve above..The link has the tax land and deed records for the property.
http://sdat.dat.maryland.gov/RealPr...rchType=ACCT&District=02&AccountNumber=021366
So.....It is most likely the Directv system is calling this an "invalid address" for another reason other than the house does not exist. Which according to County records, it does exist..
Now. Just for giggles I clicked on the Tax map....And it gives the City as "east New Market" for this address.
That link is here.....http://publicrecords.onlinesearches.com/view/lid/7274
It could be that Directv. has this property listed in East New Market, MD....Try that...Just for giggles...Click on "maps and GIS data....Zoom into the location of the property and click on the lot....

I don't know any address in Michigan where you would get significantly viewed.

Best bet is getting an AM21, pulling your locals OTA and moving to an adjacent DMA

You got to watch the spot beams as you cannot get Chicago and maybe Grand Rapids from detroit

Bumping this a bit. How long should it take for the addresses to change over? I called around 11pm last night (got a US rep) and "moved" to an address in Dorchester County (and added 1/2 after the house number too). Waited about 20 minutes, and no change - called back and got an outsourced rep who verified that the address was changed in the system but it could take an hour and a half. Checked this morning, and my service address still shows the old one and still the NYC locals. Is the 1/2 tripping something up in their system, I wonder, or would it be worth it to reach out to them a third time?
