All hands on deck. Dish please stop working on the OTA issue and put everyone on this recording issue please.
Friends come over and when there is an issue they all say, glad I did not switch to dish yet.

According to what Scott posted, Dish has found the problem and will be releasing a fix 'shortly'. Since there has not been a new software release, I do not think that the problem has been fixed. When you get the next software release, hopefully the problem will be fixed.

I doubt that they even cared about starting on the OTA issues yet, if ever.
That feature is implemented SO half assed compared to the ViP machines...

Had 2 recordings with 04 errors this evening for the first time. So add me to the list of people with issues. And add this on to all the other annoyances with this receiver.

No joy this morning even though my fingers were crossed. I had two file opening failures (04) overnight. Just spoke with Dish and they insist on sending a tech even after we agreed it is most probably a software issue.

Wonder if this is related.
Recorded an hour long show. But only the last 20 mins can be watched. The info on the recorded show say it recorded the full hour though.
I had 4 other recording at this time slot going, they all worked.
Things are getting worse.
Hard Drive is 80% full
I think we should all call in and open tickets and Ask for a $10 Credit as we can't watch our shows.

Dish insisted on sending a tech for my receiver also.

That's because the Customer Reps are not doing their job and checking that this is a common complaint with Hopper 3 customers. Supposedly they are working around the clock on this issue but it has been since March 17 that it started. Maybe they are on a smoke or coffee break.

Actually the CSR I spoke to said she was looking at a database of numerous complaints about this problem but had been instructed to send a tech for every complaint.

If replacing the Hopper 3 receiver fixes the problem, I would like to know that. They are telling me it is strictly a firmware problem. Typical.

What I don't understand is this - if it is a firmware or software issue, why is it not impacting all that have the Hopper 3?
It is a firmware issue. This has been confirmed by Scott (the owner/operator of this site). Scott said that Dish is aware of the problem and that a fix is coming 'shortly' with a new software release.

The reason not all people see the issue is because not everyone uses their receiver exactly the same way. Some people record different channels/different shows. Some people might use a different sequence of button pushes that makes the problem occur. Some people might be recording a sequence of shows that makes the problem occur. Some people might use their receiver in a way that you never would. There are a lot of reasons why some see the issue and some don't. That is why when you file a report for a software issue, they ask what was the exact sequence of events that you did that triggered the issue.

Based on the last few posts I can see no reason for a tech visit regardless of the CSR's insistence. I think I will cancel the truck roll and wait for the software update.
