Hopper 3 - Corrupted Recordings - Error 04

H3, no OTA no ehd. Had 04 error and 0 and 1 minute recoding all during that 3 day warm up period. None since then.

Knowledge is power. :)

3-day warmup?
This is my second H3 and both took 3 days after install to work smoothly. I think it's related to all units having to be on standby in order to download guides and fw updates and in my house where no one turns off their joey 3 days is probably quick.

Well, Joey and Hopper factory reset, restarted, timers deleted and options set back up again. Also activated PTAT for the hell of it. I have a CW set to record tonight, we will see what happens...

Well, at 7pm, the Legends of Tomorrow started at 6:59 and ended at 6:59, so that one was trashed. I left the recording defaults at start 1 minute early and end 3 mins late when I reset the H3.

I checked the tuner usage when Legends was recording, it showed 3 in use. One for PTAT, on for Diy which is what I had live tv on, and one for CW.

The 100, which comes on directly after, recorded fine (1 hr 4 mins) and allowed me to move to the external drive. So, considering you can't even use OTA for recording now, and it likes to randomly do the same to local sat recordings, I pretty much have to agree the current SW version is fracked.

Maybe it is too soon to start the celebration, but... my 8pm show DID properly record last night (Thursday) and about 23 minutes of the Wednesday show. However, the rev number of the f/w remained the same, U308.

Assuming it is permanently fixed, thanks to those who made the H3 work again as it did previously! Did anyone else see this improvement or the resolution of other issues?

Considering my 7pm show did not work, I dont think anything is "fixed". It's too random to base it on one occurrence, because the 8pm show on the same channel did fine. If there is some merit to the idea of that first tuner getting "stuck", I wonder if you could setup your first recording of the night as one of the programs the hour before your actual first recording started?

I mean, Tuner A should have tuned to CW at 7pm last night and recorded, but it crapped out, while Tuner B tuned to CW for the 8pm and recorded fine (it would use two tuners on the same channel because of the timer overlap). Same thing the previous two nights, it was the first recording of the night that got screwed. So maybe setting a recording for 629pm to 703pm before a 659pm to 803pm recording would help. I may try that tonight and the next few days to see if it does anything. I'll just go in and set a manual recording during the time period before the actual recording I care about starts.

My "60 Days In" got trashed last night. I deleted the timer I created with search and recreated it from the guide old school. It recorded the rerun at 2am.
I cannot believe that it is 2016 and have a machine with 16 tuners and it is pure luck whether this thing records what I told it to or not...might have to dust off that Sony VCR I still have in the Attic...

That is what is funny. It has 16 tuners, and will corrupt the ONLY recording going on in an hour time slot LOL.

I am hearing that they have found the issues causing the corrupted recordings and a fix will be coming shortly. But I am also hearing that unfortunately those corrupted files will never play. :(

Thanks. I did not figure they would ever play, so I will just grab off Amazon once I get to that particular missed episode.

That's good to hear. And of course the corrupted shows will never play as they actually don't exist if it shows that they are 0 minutes long.

It can't be "permanently fixed" until we go to another firmware version, i.e 3.09 or higher. There will be random errors until then.
