DISH Introduces Flex Pack

Yeah, my bad. Working off of memory will do that! :)

So total Dish is $97.52 which is still a steal compared to D*'s nearest offering after the promo runs out.

Dirt said; "We have an existing customer Renewal Offer promo available as of today. This offer includes a 2-year price guarantee that will ensure the existing customer's discounted core programming price will not increase for 24 months. The e-autopay $5 credit is available for existing customers under this promo. This does require a new commitment, that you accept and agree to through mydish.com. You can contact one my DIRT members for more details, as there are some restrictions, and requirements to go over."

Has anyone contacted Dirt to see if those of use that switched last week still qualify for this?

But again , you are comparing your promos to Directv full price.
And you are taking the Directv 2 Room system that's $81.99 and comparing it to your 1 room system.

Not really apples to apples.
Directv Select pack is $52.99
$15 ADRF.
$7 first room.
$74.99
That package includes your Basic Flex channels, Your locals.
Most of your Hallmark pack and most of your other channels from your Flex add-ons.
With an exception of ESPN.
Which can be added by Upgrading to the Entertainment pack.
And there is no RSN fees.

That's what keeps getting over looked.

If you stick with one or Two Flex pack mini packs, then sure it could be a bit of a savings.
But definitely not a serious one even compared to Dish AT packs.

Nope. The Flex pack with Hopper 3 and 2 add-on packs are not promo priced. And is cheaper than your D* Select pack choice.

The $97 and change includes Premiums that have deals of one sort or another and have had those deals for over a year and counting. The HBO price was even advertised as the 'everyday price' at one point and does not have an expiration date.

In my case a move to D* with the closest comparison would still be signficantly higher no matter how you dance around it.

I guess it just boils down to choice for some, flex might be a great fit for some, and for others it will not. For me I could see this being a good "summer time" package, when we don't watch much TV.

Even the Dish website will cue you and make suggestions to maybe upgrade to 120 package, if you go pack add crazy when pricing out the Flex package from a cost/channel perspective

But only for new customers for the $10.00 a month hopper charge and only if they do E bill and auto pay. But the rest of the Flex pack deal is for both existing and new subs.

Ya, I didn't mean to imply otherwise though the whole page says for new customers as we know some of it applies to existing too. But to my knowledge the $5 discount is what existing will get.

They are apparently doing the Hopper for $10 in most of the new customer promos. I just attempted to sign my parents up for Dish on the 2-year Price Lock promo, and was surprised they listed the H3 at only $10/mo as part of that as well.

Yes, that is what the Account specialist told me. I tried yesterday to get my price locked in and he said we can't get you price locked until your promo credits of $45.00 end on November 15th. But then call back and I can get the two year price lock pricing and the $5.00 discount for E bill and auto pay ,which I have had for years. So by last bill with my Flex pack came in and with the promo credits applied , I got a $51.00 bill. That is for $34.00 Flex pack +$10.00 locals + $6.00 Variety pack +$10.00 Hbo +$5.00 DISH movie pack +29.00 Dvr/ Joey fees + taxes - the $45.00 promo credit. I'm going to get the locked in price for two years on both my account and my Mom and Dad's in my name.Because it looks like a good deal for me and mine, and I won't have to get promo credits anymore. :biggrin2

Mike, same answer I got. I'm within my 2 year new/returning customer and can't get the discount now, but they said call back when that expires.

OK, I need to plead ignorance or lack of attention or something. What is the promo offer for non-contracted subs?

Well, When I checked it, It was 34.99 with a $5 discount for auto pay .
I've seen no mention of a contract extension on MY Dish account.

So not sure why additional contracts are being mentioned.

I'll repost the breakdown. And take a screen shot.

But looking at my programming changes, the credits are reset to 24 months.
So if that Dish's piss poor way of telling me that's a contract extension, well that's sad.
But I don't think that's the case, since I wasn't even prompted to a disclosure agreement.

But doubt that's the case, because there was no disclosure of any kind.

What hilarious is it only Cost me $174 for Top 250, and everything else listed here.

I lost a lot of programming for a $29 savings a month.
And that is just the stand alone Flex pack.
With no locals or add-on packs.

The question isn't did you lose a lot of programming, but did you lose a lot of programming you actually watch?

For me the answer was going from the T120 (non-plus) to the Flex Pack, Locals, National Sports is $10/month cheaper and I lost not one single channel that I watch.

This upcoming week I would have liked to be able to watch boxing and golf at the Olympics. Well I get 1/2 of that as the Golf Channel is in free preview for the Olympics. Boxing I'll have to do without as it is on NBSN which is in the T200. Isn't worth $25/month more to get to watch the few boxing matches they'll show during that one week.

My math says nearly $40.00 less. ($175-$135).
